It will be seen by the above statement, your Selectmen, by vote of the Town at the last annual meeting, have granted licenses to the only parties applying for the same ; and, agree- able to instruction, have successfully prosecuted one party for keeping a liquor nuisance. How far it is believed the licensing the sale of intoxicating liquors has added to the prosperity of the Town, the quiet of families, and the good of the rising gen- eration, we hope will be expressed by no uncertain vote at the annual meeting in April next.

VOTERS OF DUXBURY :
Having by your votes, for ten consecutive years, been elected with almost entire unanimity to the offices of Selectman, Asses- sor and Overseer of the Poor, and for the confidence you have placed in me, please accept my thanks. The time and attention those offices require of me, with my own business, I find is more than I can do, and do justice to the Town. For this reason I feel justified in most respectfully declining being considered a candidate for those offices the coming year.
JOSIAH PETERSON.
