GUIDEBOARDS.

Six new guideboards are ready to be put in place as soon as the weather permits.

OYSTER BEDS.

To obtain the best results from them steps should be taken to extend them up the Taunton River, as deepening the channel in the upper part admits the sea-water much farther up than formerly. We learn from parties, who are

good authority, that there is nothing on the upper flats to catch the oyster spawn and allow it to mature. We think if one or two hundred dollars were expended in putting oyster shells and gravel on the barren flats, it would be a good investment after the second year and certainly our ex- perience with oyster beds prove they are worth conserving.

FINANCIAL CONDITION.

By the returns from our Oyster beds last June of $1500, our financial condition was very much improved and in one sense our debt was extinguished: but, having to carry State Aid along sometimes nearly two years, an apparent debt against the Town is left.

BOARD OF HEALTH.

The Board of Health has to report one case of diph- theria. The settlement was not in our Town.

There have been a number of cases of Scarlet Fever in Myricks, attended by quite a bill of expense. Fumigation thus far has cost $18 and is not yet completed. The Board of Health, by advice of attending physician, ordered the destruction of all books at schoolhouse No. 7 suspect- ed of having been used by children who had been sick with Scarlet Fever. The agent reports the des ruction of sixty- eight books and some supplies not readily disinfected.
