WARRANT FOR ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
NORFOLK, SS. To the Constables of the Town of Weymouth in said
County. GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid qualified to vote in town affairs to meet at Odd Fellows Opera House, East Weymouth, on Monday, the Sixth Day of March, 1922, at seven o'clock and forty-five minutes in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :
General Administration
Article 1. To choose all necessary Town officers other than, those elected by ballot, viz: Public Weighers, Surveyors of Wood, Lumber and Bark, two or more Fence Viewers, two or more Field Drivers, one Pound Keeper and a Planning Board.
Article 2. To hear and act upon the reports of the several boards of Town officers and of any committee appointed at any former meeting and to choose any committees the Town may think proper.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treas- urer, with the approval of its Selectmen, to borrow money in antici- pation of the revenue of the current financial year.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treas- urer, with the approval of its Selectmen, on or after January first, 1923, to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the year 1923.
Article 5. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for a reserve fund.
Article 6. To see if the Town will designate the Weymouth Trust Company, the First National Bank of Boston and the Nat-

ional Shawmut Bank of Boston as legal depositories for the funds of the Town, and the First National Bank of Boston as legal de- pository for the securities of the Town.
Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of $7,744.62 for the payment of Weymouth's portion toward the cost of repairs and maintenance of Norfolk County Hos- pital for the year 1921.
Article 8. By request of the Memorial Building Committee : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $175,000 for the purchase and grading of land and for the erection and equipment of a Memorial Town Building, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Article 9. By request of the Weymouth Historical Society : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $800. for the purpose of continuing the work of the Town History; the money to be expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen, or to see if the Town will take any action regarding the publication of the History.
Article 10. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or will appropriate, for the payment of un- paid bills for the year 1921.
Schools
Article 11. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of public schools and for the transportation of pupils to and from school.
Article 12. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise, by loan or otherwise, and appropriate, for the construction and original equipment of an additional building to be located on the grounds of the Weymouth High School, or for an addition to said building and the original equipment thereof, and for alter- ations and improvements to the existing building of the Weymouth High School, and also determine the manner in which money for the purpose to be determined shall be raised or borrowed and terms and conditions of any loan necessary to provide such funds, and also to take any other action relative to providing for the in- creased attendance at the High School.
Article 13. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate toward the sinking fund for the payment at maturity of the James Humphrey Schoolhouse bonds.
Article 14. On petition: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,500 for new toilets at the Shaw School in Ward 4.
Public Parks
Article 15. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the care and maintenance of the parks of Weymouth, the same to be expended under the supervision of the Park Commissioners.

Article 16. On petition : To see if the Town will direct that the care of Adams Park at Weymouth Heights be placed in the care of the Park Commissioners.
Article 17. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $100 for the purpose of taking care of the land between Main and Front Streets from the so-called Nash Turnout to the junction of Main and Front Streets, the same to be under the supervision of the Park Commissioners, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Article 18. To see if the Town will authorize its Selectmen to release to Ulysses L. Burns and his assigns, a portion of the land taken at Lovell's Corner, for an entrance to the Lovell's Corner Playground, said portion to be released being all that portion of land taken by the Park Commissioners by eminent domain, under date of June 14, 1920, as lies north of the northerly line of Parcels A and B, as shown on a plan, drawn by Russell H. Whiting, C. E., dated October 24, 1921, and all that portion as lies south of the southerly line of Parcel B as shown on said plan of October 24, 1921, extending from Pleasant Street westerly to the playground as shown on said plan.
Article 19. To see if the Town will accept a gift from Clarence Burgin of Quincy, of a conveyance to the Town of a triangular par- cel of land, containing 3,800 square feet and bounded, south-east- erly by Massasoit Road; southwesterly by Pilgrim Road and north- erly by a private way running along the northerly side of said triangular parcel, and extending from Wessagussett Road or Pil- grim Road to Ford's Beach, so called. Which conveyance is upon the condition that said lot of land shall forever be kept open to be used by the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth as a public park, and that no buildings or structures of any kind shall ever be erected thereon; and that the premises shall not be used for storage of gravel or other material or any use made thereof which shall render the same unsightly or unsuitable for use as a public park.
Article 20. On petition : To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for building a Band Stand on Beals Park in Ward 1, and take any other action which may be necessary for that purpose.
Fire Department
Article 21. To see if the Town will vote to accept Chapter 48, Sections 42, 43 and 44 of the General Laws, in relation to the ap- pointment of the Fire Chief by the Selectmen.
Article 22. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Fire Department.
Article 23. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to authorize the payment to call men of the Fire Department a yearly salary of twenty-five ($25) dollars, and seventy-five cents per hour for services at fires.

Police Department
Article 24. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for police service.
Article 25. By request: To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Section 85 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, to provide for pensioning the members of its Permanent Police Force.
Health Department
Article 26. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the services and expenses of the Board of Health.
Article 27. By request: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 for the employment of district or other nurses under the provisions of the General Laws, Chapter 40, Sec. 5.
Article 28. By request: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 for the establishment and sup- port of a Dental Clinic, under the provisions of the General Laws, Chapter 40, Sec. 5.
Town Officers, Election and Town Offices
Article 29. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment of Town officers.
Article 30. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for election expenses.
Article 31. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for rent and expenses of town offices.
Ways and Bridges
Article 32. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the repairs of highways, townways, bridges, and street oiling, and for the removal of snow.
Article 33. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of $3,500 for the building of permanent sidewalks, the same to be expended under the provisions of the Betterment Act.
Article 34. By request: To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the repair and improvement of Columbian Street from Main Street to the Braintree line, the same to be expended under the direction of the Division of High- ways of the Department of Public Works of the Commonwealth pro- vided an equal amount shall be obtained from said Division under Section 34 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as amended by Sec- tion 1 of Chapter 112 of the Acts of 1921, and an equal amount shall be obtained from the County of Norfolk for like purpose, or to take any other action in relation to the improvement of Colum- bian Street between the locations indicated.

Article 35. On petition : To see if the sum of fifteen hundred ($1,500) dollars be raised and appropriated for the grading, sur- facing and oiling of that section of East Street beginning at the junction of East and Wharf Streets and continuing to the inter- section of Union Avenue and East Street, or to take action in any manner relation thereto.
Article 36. To see if the Town will authorize and instruct its Treasurer, with the approval of its Selectmen, to prepare and issue notes or bonds of the Town to an amount not exceeding $20,000, under the provisions of Chapter 44, Section 7, Clause 8 of the Gen- eral Laws, the same to be payable within five years of the date of issue in such amounts annually as may be determined; the pro- ceeds to be devoted to reconstruction of existing townways with bituminous macadam construction.
Article 37. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purchase of a gravel hill off Green Street, belonging to Joseph Thompson, or to take any other action in relation thereto.
Article 38. On petition : To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon laying out and alterations of Com- mercial Street where stood the "Arnold Tavern."
Article 39. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate any sum of money for the working of the relocation of a por- tion of Commercial Street, as described in the previous article No. 38.
Article 40. On petition: To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen for the laying out as a townway, the pri- vate way known as Puritan Road.
Article 41. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate any sum of money for the working of Puritan Road.
Article 42. On petition : To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of the street known as Ramblers Way from Evans Street to Pearl Street.
Article 43. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate any sum of money for the working of Ramblers Way.
Article 44. On petition : To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a street known as Wessagussett Road, between North Street and Ocean Avenue.
Article 45. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate any sum of money for the working of Wessagussett Road.
Article 46. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to complete the curbing and sidewalk at Liberty Square, South Weymouth, in accordance with plans pre- pared by Mr. R. H. Whiting, same to be expended under the pro- vision of the Betterment Act.

Article 47. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or appropriate the sum of nine hundred dollars ($900) for the purpose of building a permanent sidewalk on the westerly side of Main Street, beginning at the corner of Columbian Street, in front of the Edward B. Nevin School, thence to Inde- pendence Square, or will take action in any manner relating thereto.
Article 48. On petition: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) to con- struct a sidewalk on the westerly side of Main Street from John Kohler's property southerly to the land of Joseph Ferbert, or take action in any manner relating thereto.
Article 49. On petition: To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum sufficient to continue and complete the per- manent sidewalk on the westerly side of Pond Street to Thicket Street, or take action in any manner relating thereto.
Article 50. To see if the Town will accept as a gift a convey- ance from Fillip Nystrom of a triangular piece of land at the corner of Pearl and Norton Streets, same to be used for street purposes.
Article 51. To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out and alteration of the junction of Pearl and Norton Streets, North Weymouth.
Article 52. On petition: To see if the Town will acquire the piece of land at the southwest corner of Standish Road and Bridge Street; that the same, after being acquired by the Town, shall be used as a public square with suitable memorial placed therein and to be known as "Joseph Whall Square."
Article 53. On request : To see if the Town will change the name of Park Street to Talbot Street in honor of Ralph Talbot who was killed in France August 17, 1918 and place a suitable metallic sign at the beginning of Park Street at the intersection of Pleasant Street.
Article 54. On petition of the Weymouth Post No. 79, Amer- ican Legion: To see what action the Town will take with re- gard to naming or renaming certain squares in honor of Wey- mouth boys who died overseas in the service of their country during the World War, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Article 55. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to provide suitable signs designating squares as named under the above Article No. 54.
Article 56. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of three hundred dollars for the purpose of erecting bound stones on accepted highways.
Water Department
Article 57. To see if the Town will authorize the following ap- propriations from the income of the current year, viz:

Article 58. To see if the Town will instruct the Trustees of the Sinking Fund of the Water Department, to transfer to the Water Commissioners all funds held by them, not needed for such sinking fund purposes, or to take any action in relation thereto.
Article 59. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Com- missioners to purchase or take land bordering on Great Pond, or take any action relating thereto.
Article 60. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to ex- tend the Town water system on Puritan Road.
Article 61. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to ex tend the Town water system on Forest Street from Columbian to Randolph Streets.
Article 62. On petition: To see if the Town will appoint a committee of ten: the chairman and clerk, each, from the Board of Selectmen, the Assessors and the Planning Board, the President and Chairman of the Conservation Committee of the Old Colony Club and of the Monday Club, to take into consideration and inves- tigate the possibilities of the Town for Town forests or to have the water supply area converted into a Town forest or act in any man- ner thereto, and report at some future meeting.
State and Military Aid and Soldiers' Relief
Article 63. To see what sum of money the Town will appro- priate for the payment of State and Military Aid and for burials under the provisions of Chapter 115, Section 3, of the General Laws and to determine how much of the same shall be raised by taxation.
Article 64. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the relief of disabled soldiers and seamen and families of disabled soldiers and seamen under Chapter 115, Section 17, of the General Laws.
Public Charity
Article 65. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the relief and support of the poor.
Article 66. To see if the Town will raise by loan and appro- priate, or appropriate, any sum of money for the building of a new almshouse, or take action in any manner relating thereto.

Article 67. By request: To see if the Town will authorize the Overseers of the Poor to employ a welfare worker to look after and investigate the needs of the poor under the jurisdiction of the Over- seers of the Poor or take action in any manner relating thereto.
