Christopher Read
Born in Leiscester, England. Came to the U. S. A. and to Brockton in the year 1885 at the age of sixteen years. Worked in the shoe industry in various capacities for a number of years. Moved to West Bridgewater in 1899. Became active in town affairs and served on many important com- mittees. In 1921, was appointed Moth Superin- tendent, later elected Tree Warden, and held those positions until the time of his death June 7, 1945.
He was a member of St. George Lodge of Masons in Brockton and Knights of Pythias Howard Lodge in West Bridgewater. Christopher Read, of quiet disposition, needs no eulogy of pen from the people of West Bridgewater. All knew him: amiable, sincere, honest and an efficient official for twenty four years. We are grateful for the privilege of having known him.

REPORT OF HONOR ROLL COMMITTEE
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
Gentlemen:
The Honor Roll Committee presents as part of this report, a list of the men and women who served our Country in World War II.
The difficulties in compiling this list of 370 names have been many, due to the several methods of enlistment. We feel that there are possible errors in the roll, and request that it be printed in the Town Report so that the townspeople can inform us of corrections either in names or branch of service.
The present Honor Roll, in front of the Town Hall, is semi- permanent, and before making permanent changes we desire a complete and accurate Roll.
Respectfully submitted,
HERBERT E. BRYANT WILLIAM W. NOYES HAROLD W. BOURNE
