The children in the Special Class show pleasure and enthusiasm in their efforts. The results are often an agreeable surprise.

I thank the teachers for their helpful cooperation dur- ing the year.

Respectfully submitted,

The tables show the number of the common defects found during our annual physical examination, among our public school pupils.

Probably due to the shortage of essential food or wide spread diet deficiencies, this year, again, we have a 1% increase from last year in the number of physically handi- capped pupils. Although these defects are minor ones and can be remedied early, nevertheless they show a constant increase.

If 53% of our public school pupils labor under phys- ical handicaps, it is normal to suggest that some remedy should be found very soon to ameliorate their general health.

Perhaps the school should improvise new and faster methods in letting parents know the defects found in their children. Perhaps the parents should be more on the alert in regard to the state of health of their children.

We believe prompt co-operation between school and home will be a good start toward improving the general health of our pupils.

JOHN V. GALLAGHER, M.D. JOSEPH E. LENARES, M.D.

Secretary: Gertrude E. Moran Treasurer: Rose A. Farese

Chairman Executive Committee: Eleanor E. Arnold , Chairman Social Committee: Esther L. Gagliardi Chairman Library Committee: Harold M. Moran Chairman Publicity Committee: Eva L. Burns Chairman Program Committee: Rose A. Farese

The Milford Teachers' Association has this year con- ducted its meetings in a somewhat different plan from former years. In conjunction with the regular monthly business meeting we have also held socials, at which time we had speakers talk to us on interesting educational sub- jects.

Two of our guest speakers were local personages, namely: Mr. Madison Goff, and Mr. Leonard Lawrence.

Mr. Philip G. Cashman, Supervisor of Special Schools and Classes in Massachusetts, spoke on "The Obligation of Society toward the Handicapped Child."

Donations were given to the Red Cross, U.S.O., and a bond purchased from the Tuberculosis Association.

All retired teachers were recognized with a suitable remembrance at Christmas.

Secretary.

CLASS ODE Tune: "Fair Harvard"

To thee, Alma Mater, we sing our adieu As we leave thy fair portals today; For life beckons onward new paths to pursue, And with you we no longer can stay.

'Mid the world's stress and strife, as we go on our way, To thy teachings we'll always be true;

And for God and for country we'll work and we'll pray For a world in which peace reigns anew.

Oh, classmates and teachers, we bid thee farewell,

And our hearts fill with sorrow and tears, As the scenes of our school days that we've loved so well Are but mem'ries in life's book of years. In this world that's war torn, full of battle and strife,

To our country we'll strive to be true

Her ideals we'll uphold with courage through life And pledge our allegiance anew.
