RECORD OF TOWN MEETINGS.
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Monday, January 19, 1925, and adjournment to March 24, 1925.
On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen, under date of January 6, 1925, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, H. Eugene Rice, Eugene Endicott and Harold W. Baker, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which Warrant was duly attested by J. Irving Reid, Constable of Norwood.
All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-Laws relating to elec- tions and Town meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order, the articles contained in the Warrant and the action there- under being as follows:
Article 1. To choose all necessary Town Officers. The following are to be chosen by ballot, namely, one Selectman for three years (who shall be Overseer of the Poor and Surveyor of Highways); one Town Treas- urer and Collector of Taxes for one year; one Finance Commissioner for three years; one Moderator for one year; one member of the Board of Health for three years; two members of the School Committee for three years; two Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; one member of the Planning Board for three years; six Constables for one year; and also upon the same ballot to vote upon the following ques- tion: "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of certain non-intoxicating beverages in this town?"

1. Maintenance, repairs and construction of highways, culverts and bridges, highway equipment, paving gutters, building sidewalks, setting edgestones, removal of snow and ice, sanding sidewalks, street signs and guide boards and operation of stone crusher plant.
Voted: To appropriate the sum of $68,844.00 for the foregoing purposes of which $24,000.00 be appropriated from the Treasury and $44,244.00 be raised by taxation, of which last amount $6,530.00 for removal of snow and ice and sanding sidewalks and $5,000.00 are available for construction of Granolithic Sidewalks.

Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to maintain an evening school as provided by law, and raise and appropriate money for such purpose, or take other action in the matter.

To see what sum the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate to pay not more than the ordinary and reasonable compensation for care actually rendered or furnished by the Norwood Hospital or other hospitals in the vicinity of Norwood to such persons as may be in whole or in part unable to care for themselves, the same to be in addition to sums appropriated for the care of contagious diseases and for institutional re- lief, or take any other action in the matter.

Article 11. To see what money the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate for the employment of district or other nurses, or take any other action in the matter.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING March 24, 1925
On a Warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated March 10, 1925, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, H. Eugene Rice, Eugene Endicott and Harold W. Baker, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which Warrant was duly attested by J. Irving Reid, Constable of Norwood.
All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-Laws relating to Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, James A. Halloran, the Articles contained in this Warrant and the action taken thereunder being as follows:
Article 1. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate as salary for the Town Game Warden for the current year.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $100.00.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to lease a part of the building of the Norwood Civic Association, Inc., for the purpose of providing suit- able headquarters for Post No. 70, American Legion for the current year, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for said purpose, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $250.00.
Article 3. To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appro- priate to meet the expense of the care and maintenance of the Norfolk County Hospital as apportioned by the County Commissioners of the County of Norfolk.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $5,621.51.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as a public way a'new street forming an extension westerly of Elliot Street and to be known as Elliot Street as laid out and reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and to raise and appropriate a sum of money to pay land damages and to con- struct said new way, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow as reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and appro- priate by taxation the sum of $580.00.

To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as a public way a new street forming an extension southerly of Nichols Street and to be known as Nichols Street as laid out and reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and to raise and appropriate a sum of money to pay land damages and to con- struct said new way, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow as reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and appro- priate by taxation the sum of $10,410.00.

To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow an altera- tion by widening of a portion of Nichols Street on the northerly side thereof, extending 99.65 feet easterly from Bond Street as laid out and reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and to raise and appropriate a sum of money to pay land damages and to construct said widening, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow as reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and appro- priate by taxation the sum of $1,440.00.
Article 7. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to meet a portion of the expense of the relocation of Walpole Street from Washington Street to the existing State Highway, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $20,000.00.
Article 8. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of Cottage Street East and of the new way extending from Nahatan and Market Streets to Cottage Street East, and of the relocation and alteration of a portion of Central Street, and of the alteration by widening of a portion of Nahatan Street as heretofore laid out, made and accepted by the Town under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments or any of them, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $16,210.00.
Article 9. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the improvement of the Public Park known as Memorial Park, heretofore laid out, located and accepted by the Town under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $5,300.00.
Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as a public park a certain tract of land extending from Bond Street southeasterly to Hoyle Street, being a portion of the school land fronting on Washington Street as taken, laid out and located and reported by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of said park, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow as laid out by the Selectmen under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and appro- priate the sum of $1,100.00 by taxation.
Article 11. To see what further sum of money the Town will vote to raise and borrow and appropriate for the purpose of constructing a new school building for Senior High School grades and for the purchase of original equipment and furnishings for said building, said sum to be in

addition to the sums heretofore appropriated for said purposes, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To appropriate the sum of $50,000.00 for the purpose set forth, of which $8,000.00 be raised by taxation and $42,000.00 be borrowed (under the provisions of Chapter 77, Acts of 1924, the sum of $20,000.00 and Pro- visions of Chapter 24, General Laws, the sum of $22,000.00).
Article 12. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,100.00 to reimburse Frederick A. Cleveland on account of ex- pense incurred by him for work done in the improvement of certain park lands of the Town located on Bond Street, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: By taxation, the sum of $1,100.00.
