Voted: That the report of the Committee as presented be ac- cepted.


Article 2. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes in his capacity of Town Treas- urer to borrow from time to time with the approval of the Select- men such sums of money as may be necessary not exceeding in the aggregate two hundred thousand dollars subject to Chapter 44 of the General Laws exclusive of the limitation contained in the first paragraph of Section 7 thereof and to issue bonds: or notes therefor which will bear on their face the words "Norwood Senior High School Loan Act of 1938" and to appropriate such sums for the purpose of constructing an addition to its senior high school and originally furnishing and equipping said addition in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 466 of the Acts of 1938 and to ap- point a committee to expend such sums for said purposes and take any other action relative thereto.


Voted: To so authorize the Town Treasurer, and further voted that the members of the present existing committee known as "The Special Committee of the Town of Norwood on the Henry O. Peabody Fund" and the present Chairman of the School Com- mittee be and they hereby are appointed a committee to expend such sums for said purpose.

Resolved: WHERAS, by action taken under Article 2 the Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes in his capacity of Town Treasurer is authorized to borrow from time to time with the approval of the Selectmen sumsof money as stated in said action for the pur- poses of constructing an addition to the Senior High School and originally furnishing and equipping such addition it is understood nevertheless that such authority shall not be exercised and such borrowing shall not be undertaken, and such approval of the Select. men shall be withheld unless and until the decree in equity dated December 20, 1938 entered in the Probate Court for Suffolk County, Massachusetts by Honorable William M. Prest, Judge of said Pro- bate Court in Case No. 124484 on petition for instruction of the trustees under the will of Henry O. Peabody has become in all respects final and operative.


Voted: That this meeting be dissolved.

In accordance with the proclamation of the President of the United States dated September 16, 1940, the registration of all male persons, whether citizens of the United States or not, other than those exempt by law, who have reached the twenty-first anni- versary of the day of their birth but who have not reached the thirty-sixth anniversary of the day of their birth on or before October 16, 1940, will be held in the Gymnasium Section of the Junior High School, Washington Street, Norwood, Mass., October 16, 1940, 7:00 o'clock A. M. until 9:00 o'clock P. M. It is the duty of every male citizen of the United States and of every male alien residing in the United States to present himself for and submit to registration in compliance with the proclamation of the President.

In pursuant of the foregoing notice the inhabitants of the Town of Norwood eligible for registration under the Selective Service Act met in the Gymnasium Section of the Junior High School on Wash- ington Street on Wednesday the Sixteenth day of October, A. D. 1940 at 7:00 o'clock in the forenoon. The meeting was called to order by the Chief Registrar, Raymond K. Morrow. The notice calling for the registration for Selective Service was read by the Town Clerk and Accountant Walter A. Blasenak. The Assistant Registrars who were notified to be present were sworn by the Chief Registrar to the faithful performance of their duty.


In accordance with the Selective Service Regulation Volume No. 1, namely, Registration, the Gymnasium Section of the Junior High School was properly fitted up as a registration place, suitable tables and equipment provided for the convenience of the regis- trants. Cards of instruction and specimen registration certificates and cards were posted within the auditorium. The Town Clerk and Accountant delivered to the Chief Registrar, Registration Cards Form No. 1, three thousand four hundred seventy-four (3,474), Registration Certificates Form No. 2, twenty-nine hundred (2,900) and took receipt therefor.


At the close of the registration an actual count of the registra- tion cards and certificates showed, Form No. 1, Used Registration Cards, one thousand seven hundred and sixty-nine (1,769). Form

MEETING OF TOWN CLERKS


In meeting of the Town Clerks of the Town of Norwood, Welles- ley, Westwood and Dover, said towns comprising the Seventh Nor- folk Representative District, and held this day in the Town Clerk's office, Memorial Municipal Building, Norwood at 12:00 o'clock noon, in accordance with the provisions of Section 125 of Chapter 54 of the General Laws, for the purpose of examining the copies of records of votes of every such voting precinct and town in such district cast in the State Election on November 5, 1940, for the purpose of determining who appears to be elected to the office of Representative in said district.


We hereby subscribe our signatures and certify that the follow- ing is a schedule of all persons for whom votes were cast for Rep- resentatives and the number of votes cast for each person for said office in said District:
