Voted that the Revernt Mr Jerimiah Shepard shall have for his Labour in the Ministrey for this present year which will be Vp the 8th of January next the sum of ninty pounds in bills of credit in Lue of the forescore pounds voted by the Town the 2 of March: 1680/81 the contribution to be as heretofore

Whereas the New Precinct in Lyn petitiond the Town to have an En- largment to make them a Township or to grant that there be two Ministers maintained in the Town by one Generall tax Vpon the whole Town as setforth in their motion dated August 25= 1719 (and for Severall Reasons then given) pasd in the Negative

Voted that Capt Theophilus Burrill & Ens Daniel Mansfield be a Committe to obtain a schooe Master for the Town & to help the Revernt Mr Shepard in Preaching for one year from the time the school will be ended at the New Precinct which will be some time the Latter End of December next

Wheras Widdow Abigail Liscome petitioned the Town for a bit of Land possed by her father Brewer where he Dyed: & Desires it may be Laid out for her father had given it to her - Therfore


Voted that Henry Collins Junr & Ebenezer Burrill layout to sd Abigail Liscome the said bit of Land possesd by sd Brewer as neare as may be and a highway of one pole wide from sd Land to the Country Road & sd bit of Land to be to sd Liscome forever

Being informd that Richard Brixe William Bull and Robert Bull all came in to the Town of Lyn on or about the twelfth Day of June last past: 1719 and not belong to sd Town of Lyn: therfore sd Thomas Stocker constable in Lyn thefo are to order you to notify & warn the said Richard Brixe William Bull & Robert Bull all to depart out of sd Town of Lyn forthwith or they shall be proceeded with as the Law directs failenot & make returns of your Doings herein

Wheras Mr Thomas Cheever & severall of the Neighbours therabouts has petitioned the Selectmen to Lay out a highway as hereafter desired & described: & is as followeth


To the Selectmen of the Town of Lyn: Gentlemen


Wheras you ware pleased at the Request of aboue forty of our neighbors to come upon the Land according to our peitions & Every Circumstance considerd to give Vs your Judgments that it was most agreeable to Equity that the highway should lie through our Land; that is to say to begin at a Lyn town highway by the Norwest Corner of the orchard of Thomas Cheever & so along on the westerly End of sd Cheevers Orchard till it come to a stake in Sarah Pauls Land set up by your selues & so Crossing across a Corner of sd Pauls Land into the Land of John Berries & so along on sd Berries Land an a streight line so far as sd Berris Land lies & so through the Land of William Gray & William Curtice to Boston Line where ye way is now Vsed -


These are therfore to inform you that wee do comply with your advice & will freely alow of a highway one pole & halfe wide so far as it lies through our Land & as is above Described without Expecting any pay for sd Land: Reserveing the fee of sd way to our selues & heirs forever: with a Liberty to fence a cross to highway with a gate or gates in such place or places as we or any or either of Vs our heirs think fitt: Sarah Paul to leave to sd highway a Little peice of Land so as to acomidate a convenient passage between two Rocks in a place where the way is now Vesed near the Corner of sd Berries Land

pole & half wide & in all respects as is before described and setforth till it coms to Boston Line: save onely the sd way to lie below the two Rocks mentioned in the before mentioned agreement (if the sd petitioners doe comply there with)

Pursuant to the vote of the Town of Lyn September: 18th=1719 we the Subscribers being apointed for to Lay out to John Collins so much Land as should be equivalent for that Lot of his that was Laid out in Collal Browns farm: & for to lay it out by Rands Land setout to him one acre and halfe of Land in the place where we were desired for to Lay it out viz: beginning at the Eastward End of Zechary Rands Barn two poles distant from said Barn & Running East thirty poles & from the end of the thirty poles partly Norwest Eight poles to a Rock put in the ground & from that bounds West thirty poles to another Rock put in the ground & from that bounds Eight poles to the afore named Rands fence two poles from the above sd Barn & so adjoining to said fence thirty poles above said

Voted that another Minister be cald to settle in the work of the Ministrey amongst us as soone as maybe with Convenience

Whereas the Selectmen of Lyn are informd that on or about the fifth Day of December 1719 John Brown came in to the Town of Lyn & came from the Town of Reading where he properly belongs and had his last Residence


Therefore at a meeting of the Selectmen of Lyn January the 27th 1719/20 you are apointed and Required forthwith to warn the said John Brown

Whereas at a meeting of the Church of Lyn ferurary the 4th 1719/20: Mr Nathaniel Hinchman was chose a Minister for this part of the Town and Pursuant to the Law in that case made & Provided this part of the Town was warnd to meet this Day to see if they will concur with the Church in their choice as above said


A Concurance with the Church in their choice of Mr Nathaniel Hinchman to be a Minister for this part of the Town to Preach the Word of God amongst us

Voted that if Mr Nathaniel Hinchman acceps the Call to be our Minister that then there shall be paid to him ninty pounds pr year for his labour in the Ministrey in Preaching the Word of God amongst us so long as the Revernt Mr Shepard shall carry on part of said work of the Ministrey: and the time of the five years payment to begin the twenty fifth Day of March next Ensewing

Voted that when Mr Nathaniel Hinchman comes to carry on the whole work of the Ministrey amongst us that then there shall be paid to him one hundred and fifteen pounds pr year annually for his Labours in the Ministrey in Preaching the word of God amongst us so long as he shall so continue to be our Minister

Voted that there shall be given to Mr Nathaniel Hinchman one hundred & sixty pounds towards his settlement amongst us: & to be paid to him at or before the twenty fifth Day of March 1721

Voted that it the Town shall grant all the Land proposed to them for settleing a Minister or Ministers in this part of the Town that then we will give Mr Nathaniel Hinchman one third part of the whole of it: Excepting onely two pole wide at the East end of that part Mr Shepard now inprovs: and Mr Nathaniel Hinchmans third part to be at one End of the whole of said peice of Land: but so much of it as fals in that part as Mr Shepard now Improvs not to Come in to the actual possession of said Mr Hinchman till after Mr Shepards Improvement in it is

Expired: and then the whole of said third part to go to said Mr Hinchman & his heirs forever: he tarrying with us so long as he shall be able to Preach the Word of God amongst us

Voted that it be proposed to the Town at their next March Meeting whither the Town will grant to this part of the Town that peice of Land Mr Shepard now Improvs Lying by Joseph Breeds hous when Mr Shepards time is Expired in it, for them to dispose of as they shall see cause for the settlement of a Minister or Ministers amongst us

Mr Joseph Mansfield Mr Thomas Stocker & Mr John Lewis are apointed to Run the Line & Renew the bounds betwixt Boston & Lyn they or any two of them and to meet at the house of Capt Elijha Bennets at Rumney marsh on Tuesday the: 12th of April next to Joyne with such as are apointed by Boston for that service and if that Day prove wett & Unsutible for that service then on the tuesday next following: and to make Return of their Doings


Returnd by the above Joseph Mansfield & Thomas Stocker that the bounds beetwixt Boston & Lyn was Renewed by Elijah Cooke Esqr and Mr William Clark for Boston & the sd Mansfield & Stocker for Lyn
