Wittnesseth that whereas ye sd Joshua is now Possessed of a negro boy named Gift aged Fourteen years who is a slave & is property of ye sd Joshua: as forsooth as any Slave is or can be ye property of his Master. & ye sd Joshua having Concluded & for good Reason Resolved that ye sd negro shall be clearly Released & freed from ye yoke of Servitude when he shall have arrived to ye Age of Five & Twenty years at ye farthest or upon ye Dearth of ye sd Hannah which so ever shall first happen as it hath been agreed upon Between ye sd Joshua & hannah at her motion Before their Intermarriage now ye sd Joshua in Consideration of ye intire Love & affection which he hath & Bareth unto ye sd Hannah and for the fulfilling their agreement Respecting ye sd negro Slave Doth hereby covenant with ye sd Ebenezer Berry his Execr & adminr that ye sd negro with all his Sequels shall be absolutly freed Released & Discharged from ye Yoke of Servitude upon ye Death of ye sd Hannah or upon his ataining ye age of Five & twenty years which of them shall first happen: & from thence forward ye sd Joshua his Executors & Adminrs shall & will Warrant ye sd Negro with all his Sequels Free man for Ever: and ye sd Joshua for himself his Execrs Admrs & asigns Doth hereby further Covenant with ye sd Ebenezer his Execrs & adminrs that in case the ye sd Joshua shall Dye befor ye sd Hannah & before ye sd negro shall have come to ye age of Five & twenty years That the Heirs Executors Adminrs or assignes of the said Joshua or any of them shall not Intermedle with ye sd Negro nor have nor lay any Clame to him or his Service nor take him out of the Said Hannahs Service But shall suffer him Quietly to

Lyn Aprill ye 20th 1722
Whereas a Complaint being made to ye Selectmen by Severall persons of this Town they being intercepted or molested in passing through Mr Wendals farm from ye Country Road to ye Lower Landing soe called on ye usuall Way as formerly part of itt being now plowed up there fore ye Selectmen of ye Town upon Consideration of it sent to Mr Wendall Desiring of him to meete them att ye house of Mr Richard More which accordingly he did at ye 4th of this Instant April and after some Discourse with him he readily complied to give the Town a High way of two pole whide from ye Country Rhoade to ye Lower Landing for there use and soe Agreed to Leave itt so ye Selectmen to Laid itt out which was Laide out as Followeth Viz:
beginning att the Country Rhoade about twenty foot to ye Noward of ye old gate Where itt now stands soe Runing upon a straite line on ye Noward side of the high Way to an oake tree upon ye edge of ye bank att ye upper Landing soe Called & from thence with a Straite line to ye Lower Landing within about four pole of ye Westerly side of the thorne Bushes ye Rhoade Lying on ye southerly side of this Line then Runing along below ye Edge of ye Bank to ye most convenients place for Landing & ye sd Roade was laid out two poles whide from ye Country Rhoad to ye Lower Landing and also Liberty for putting gates or Bars cross sd Rhoade if sd Wendall hath accasion

Noted that Mr Thomas Cheuer and Mr Ebineaser Merriam so far as it Concerns the Town have Liberty to Erect a grist Mill or Mils Near the great Bridg so Called and If they with such perteners as they shall tack in with them or By themselves shall see caus to Erect a grist Mill or Mils their within one year they their heirs & suchsessors to have the Towns Intrest their in the water Cours their for such Mill or Mils so Erected they Doing the Towns woorck both well and seasonably keeping said Mill or Mils in good Repair from time to time and If any Damage shall happen to the Said Bridg, or any other ways, By Reason of setting a Mill or Mils their that to be Made Good By them But if they neglect to Erect a Mill or Mils their Within the above said term of time or do not perform the Conditions aforesaid then the affore said then in such case all above granted to bee to the Town as Before this grant was made = Mr William Tayler and Josiah Rhoads Junr Enter Their Desent against the above grant

At the same meting october ye 8th 1722 Consideration Being had about a peace of Land that Chrispas Richards had Liberty to fence in: Whereas at ye Town Meeting May ye 16th 1722 the Town voted that

Therefore the question Being asked wheither the Town would reconsider that Vot of six pound and wheither he should have the land for five pound and it Pased in the affermitive and that Chrispas Richards shall Pay to the selectmen for ye use of the town five Pounds for ye Land which is about one hundred pole

We the subscribers Being appointed by the selectmen of Lynn to Lay out a Town high way from Mr Benjamen Wileys hous over sd Wileys Land and so through Mr John Brintnalls farme and so through Mr Moses Hawkses his farme to ye Rhoad that goeth from Lyn to Reding We Met at the place on the 5th day of June: 1723 and Laid out the way accordingly beginning at Mr Wileys hous and so through sd Wileys Land to ye Bridg as the way now goeth and so along by Mr Brintnalls hous as the way now goeth: till we came Within about foure Pole of ye gate Between Sd Brintnalls & Hawkses Land: Then turning to ye westward about three pole west from sd gate and so Running to ye Eastward of a Red oak marked and so Running to the southerd of a small Red oak Marked and so along under the hill to the northward of a great Red oak Marked and so to ye southerd of a great whit oak Marked against sd Hawks his barn and so Comming into ye old highway by the gate Which is between Moses and & Adam Hawkses Land and so along by Mr John Hawks his fences: as the Way now goeth to ye Road a Little to ye Norward of ye Bridge near to ye Widow Hawks'es hous the afore sd high way to be two pole wide - The above sd Mr Benjamin Wiley Mr
