Newton Copper Type Co.

14 FRANKFORT STREET,

NEW YORK.

Established for the Copper-Facing of Type only. ,

Fonts of Three Thousand Pounds Guaranteed in a Week,

NO. 82 BEEKMAN ST., New York, arch 22, 1877. To the Newton Copper Type Company.

Gentlemen :- We have known of the advantages of Copper-Faced Type ever since its first introduction to the trade, and have ourselves used it as long as we have been in business. Copper-Faced Type will last many times as long as uncop- pered in electrotyping or stereotyping, and preserve to the last a better average of condition. The process preserves the sharpness of the type admirably.

Yours truly, SMITH & MCDOUGAL.

Office of WHEAT & CORNETT,

No. 8 SPRUCE ST .. New York, May 8, 1878. Gentlemen :- Having used Copper-Faced Type for newspaper and book work for a number of years, and found that we could get more than double the wear out of it, we have of late adopted Copper-Faced Type for job work, and find that in scripts and light or faney types, it considerably more than doubles the wear with- out injuring the sharpness or beauty. Yours truly,

WHEAT & CORNETT.

That one Font of Copper-Faced Type will do the work of two Fonts uncoppered, is abundantly demonstrated by the Testimonials of our patrons.

In estimating the cost of copper-facing at the following prices, the Quadrats and Spaces-usually one-fifth of the weight-must be deducted, as the letter ONLY is copper-faced, which makes the cost of copper-facing less than eighteen per cent. advance at present prices on the type-founders' bill.

Prices for Copper-Facing Type, REDUCED.

Printers desiring their type coppered, are requested to bear in mind that we are not type-founders, that we neither buy nor sell type, but copper-face it only, at the order of printers or type-founders. They will therefore direct the founders with whom they deal to send their type to us, (the Patentees,) to be copper-faced. which, when finished, will be forwarded at once to its destination. Payment can be made to the founders, or directly to this company.

Springfield Union DAILY AND WEEKLY.

Daily, $7.00; Weekly, $2.00 Per Annum.

The Daily Union

Is published every afternoon, and sent out through Western New England on the Evening Trains, and delivered throughout the City in time for tea-table reading every evening.

The Weekly Union

Is published every Thursday morning, on a large quarto sheet of 56 Col- ums, making it the largest paper published in Western Massa- chusetts. It is intended that it shall be the favorite, as it is the model paper of New England. Not- withstanding its size and superiority, it is published at the low price of $2 a year, with large reductions to clubs.

To Advertisers.

The UNION has the largest circulation of any evening paper in Massa- chusetts, outside of Boston. In Springfield, and within a radius of Fifty Miles, taking in the flourishing villages of Chicopee, Holyoke, Northamp- ton, Westfield, Palmer, Thompsonville, Suffield, etc., with altogether a population of near 100,000, the Union is literally read by everybody. It also circulates to a large extent in every town in Western Massachusetts, and in the neighboring towns in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Ver- mont, and its readers are the class of people advertisers most desire to reach,-intelligent, well to do, and who, to a great extent, make Spring- field their trading head-quarters, thus making a first-class advertising me- dium for all kinds of business.
