Fire Department.
The central fire district of Chicopee is bounded by the Chicopee river on the north, "Bemis's brook" on the east,south by the Springfield line, west by Connecticut river.
The following officers were elected April 30: Chief Engineer, Jantes E. Hosley; First Assistant, Timothy Canty ; Second Assistant, Robert Hickey, Third Assistant, S. L. Scribner; Fourth Assistant, John Lyons; Clerk, Matthew Ryan; Treasurer, John B. Wood; Prudential Committee, S. S. Hodgkins, Michael McDermott and S. A. Jacobs.
The working force of the department consists of 108 men, divided among the fol- lowing companies : Chicopee Steamer No. 1, Pacific Hose Co. No. 1, Owego Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1, Fountain Extinguisher Co. No. 1, and Independent Hose Co. No. 2.
