TOWN WARRANT
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS Worcester, ss.
To either Constable of the Town of Milford in said County, Greeting :
In the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Milford qualified by law to vote in Town Affairs, to meet in the Town Hall in said Town on Wednesday, the ninth day of September A. D. 1936, at 8 o'clock in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :
Article 1. To hear and act upon the reports of any Committees of said Town.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to appro- priate the sum of Fifteen thousand ($15,000.00) dol- lars from available funds to the account of Materials and Tools that may be purchased, and for trucking and team hire, and for investigation and maintenance expenses that may be incurred in connection with W. P.A. or other governmental projects and adjustments or projects that the Town may undertake with Wel- fare Labor, or take any action in relation thereto.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to appro- priate the sum of Thirty-five thousand ($35,000.00) dollars for use by the Department of Public Welfare, for Public Welfare, including Mother's Aid and Old Age Assistance and to authorize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow such sums as may be necessary to meet any appropriation made, under the provisions of Chapter 80, Acts of 1936, or take any action in relation to the same.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to accept from the owners thereof, in behalf of the Town, a deed of the following described premises.
First Parcel: Certain tract of land located on the northerly side of Dilla Street in said Milford, being bounded by land now or formerly of Trout Brook Ice & Feed Co., by land now or formerly of the Town of Milford, and by land now or formerly of Thebideau, Johnson, Lucca, Woodworth, Henderson, Trask and Parker, and by said Dilla Street.

Second Parcel : Certain tract of land situated on the southerly side of Dilla Street in said Milford, being bounded by land now or formerly of one Allen, of one Clark, location of the New York, New Haven & Hart- ford Railroad, other land of Trout Brook Ice & Feed Co., and by said Dilla Street.
All of the above described premises are described in the deed from Trout Brook Ice & Feed Co., to Southern New England Ice Co., dated February 4, 1927, recorded with Worcester District Registry of Deeds, February 26, 1927, in Book 2429, page 501; subject to all rights of way, easements and agreements referred to in said deed ; and supposed to contain about 30 acres, or take any action in relation to the same.
And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by publishing at least seven days before said meeting an attested copy of this warrant, in the Milford Daily News, a newspaper published and having a general circulation in the Town of Milford and by posting at least seven days before said meeting attested copies of this warrant in five or more public places located in said Milford.
Hereof Fail Not and make due return of this war- rant with your doings thereon to the Clerk of said Town at the time of meeting aforesaid :

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Milford qualified by law to vote in Town Affairs held this ninth day of September, A. D. 1936, the said inhabitants proceeded as follows :
The meeting was called to order by John T. Mc- Loughlin, Moderator, at eight o'clock P. M.
The Town Clerk read the warrant and the officer's return thereon.
The following resolutions were presented to the meeting.
RESOLUTIONS
Resolved: That the voters of Milford in Special Town Meeting Assembled, have heard with deep re- gret and profound sorrow of the death of John F. Ruhan, who was a Town Meeting Member from Pre- cinct 4.
His services as a Fire Department Member, High- way Employee and Town Meeting Member, was com- prised of loyalty to duty, manly courage, broadness of sympathies and natural benevolence.
Resolved: That as a further mark of respect, busi- ness of the meeting be suspended and the voters stand with bowed heads as a silent tribute to his memory.
Resolved: That the Clerk be directed to send a copy of these resolutions to the relatives of the deceased.
Voted : That the Resolutions be adopted.

The Committee on Rules checked the lists of Town Meeting Members and found that there were 115 Town Meeting Members present. This number did not con- stitute a quorum of. Town Meeting Members. The business of the meeting was suspended until a quorum of Town Meeting Members was obtained. The lists- of Town Meeting Members were again checked, and it was found that there were 121 Town Meeting Mem- bers present, said members constituting a quorum.
Article 1. The Committee appointed by the Town to investigate the matter of purchasing a plot of land .. to be used as and developed into an enclosed Athletic Field, presented a report through William J. Cahill,. Secretary.
Voted: To receive and accept the report and place- same on file.
Myron Morey, Secretary of the Finance Committee,". presented a report of the Finance Committee.

Of the articles in the Warrant your Finance Com- mittee has taken action on article three and recom- mend that the sum of Twenty Thousand ($20,000.00) be raised and appropriated for the Department of Pub- lic Welfare.

Article 4. The following motion was made.
That the Board of Selectmen be authorized to ac- cept from the owners thereof, in behalf of the Town, as a voluntary gift a deed of the premises described in a deed from Trout Brook Ice & Feed Company to Southern New England Ice Company, dated February 4, 1927, recorded with Worcester District Deeds, Book 2429, page 501, together with all rights of way, ease- ments, and agreements, and subject to all rights of

flowage, rights of way and easements therein referred to, and described generally as follows :

Pursuant to a warrant signed by the Selectmen of Milford, the inhabitants of the Town of Milford qual- ified by law to vote in Primaries, met in Dewey Hall, in said Town on Tuesday, the fifteenth day of Septem- ber, A. D. 1936, and were called to order by Lynd- hurst A. MacGregor, Selectman, Presiding Election Officer.
The Town Clerk read the warrant and the Officer's return thereon.
All legal requirements having been complied with, the polls were declared open at 1:02 o'clock P. M.
The following Tellers appointed by the Selectmen to check the voting lists and the following Ballot Clerks were sworn to a faithful performance of their duties by the Town Clerk.
Tellers: J. Roy Kerr (R) ; James J. Connors (D) ; Louis Rizoli (R) ; Charles P. Read (D) ; Harry C. T !!- den (R) ; Herbert B. McKenna (D) ; Samuel M. Ianz- ito (R) ; Walter O. Rapps (D).
Ballot Clerks: George E. Stanley (R) ; George A. Dillon, Jr. (D).
During the voting the ballot box was opened by unanimous consent of the Presiding Election Officer and Town Clerk four times for the purpose of taking out. canvassing and counting the votes first at 3 o'clock P. M. when the box registered 650, then at 5:20 o'clock

P. M. when the box registered 1300, then at 6:45 o'clock P. M. when the box registered 1934, and at the close of the polls, 8 o'clock P. M. when the box registered 2843.
The following Tellers appointed by the Selectmen to canvas and count the ballots were sworn to a faith- ful performance of their duties by the Town Clerk and began their duties at six o'clock P. M.
