The debt of the Town has increased in part from the follow- ing causes : Decrease of bank tax from 1874, $540; award of land damages by Jury on Gardner road, $450; cost of Point road, by order of County Commissioners, above appropriation, $200; cost watching fires, &c., $260.
Your Selectmen have been obliged to exceed the amount ap-

propriated for special repairs on roads and bridges, for the safety of public travel, and to avoid the call of County Commis- sioners, thinking it better to exceed a small amount, than being oblige to pay a greater.
APPROPRIATIONS.
