REPORT OF ACTIVITIES OF CEMETERIES IN CHELMSFORD, MASSACHUSETTS 1938
To the Board of Selectmen : Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
Gentlemen :
The Cemetery Commissioners wish to submit the following report for the year ending December 31, 1938.
All cemeteries, up to the time of the hurricane, were in good condi- tion. Five of the cemeteries were badly damaged by the hurricane. A large number of shade trees were uprooted, walls and fences broken, and tombstones dislodged.
A W. P. A. project for the removal of trees and stumps has been started and is doing very good work.
The following is a list of burials and lots sold: Forefathers' Ceme- tery, three burials; Pine Ridge Cemetery, seventeen burials; six lots sold; Hart Pond Cemetery, two burials; Riverside Cemetery, several burials; Fairview Cemetery, several burials and few lots sold; West Cemetery, three burials.
The Cemetery Commissioners express their appreciation for the ex- cellent work done by the Cemetery Superintendents and invite lot own- ers to visit the cemeteries more often.
Respectfully submitted,
ARTHUR C. WHEELER,
BAYARD C. DEAN, ARTHUR W. HOUSE,
Cemetery Commissioners,
Town of Chelmsford.
