WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING JANUARY 17, 1938
TOWN OF SAUGUS
Essex, ss. To W. Charles Sellick, Constable of the Town of Saugus.
Greetings:
In the name of the Common- wealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Saugus, qualified to vote in Town Elections and Town Affairs to as- semble in the Town Hall, on Mon- day Evening, January Seventeenth, Nineteen Hundred and Thirty- Eight, at Eight O'clock to hear and act on the following articles, viz:
Article 1. To hear and act on reports of committees.
Art. 2. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $20,000, the same to be expended for Federal Emergency Unemploy- ment Relief Projects, of which $6,000 shall be expended for un- paid WPA bills of 1937, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter.
Art. 3. To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning By-Law and the Zoning Map of the Town of Saugus so that the following de- scribed area shall hereafter be zoned for business purposes:
"Beginning at a point on said Broadway two hundred fifty-one 62-100 (251.62) feet; southerly from Hawkes Street on plan drawn by Lewis G. Hawkes, surveyor, run- ning easterly four hundred ninety 8-100 (490.08) feet to a point two hundred ninety-five 65-100 (295.65) feet southerly from said Hawkes Street; thence running southerly one hundred three (103) feet to the land of A. N. Hawkes; thence run- ning by said Hawkes' land wester- ly to said Broadway; thence run- ning northerly about ninety six (96) feet to point of beginning, containing forty-five thousand eight hundred (45,800) feet, more or less."
The above land is shown as Lot A8, Plan 1042 of the Assessors'
Plans of the Town of Saugus. Agreeable to the Petition of Carl DiMauro and others.
Art. 4. To see if the Town will vote to change the Zoning By-Law and Zoning Map of the Town of Saugus so that land shown on As- sessors' Plan 2055 as lots A-8 shall be rezoned for business purposes, agreeable to the petition of Roger M. Rich and others.
Art. 5. To see if the Town will vote to change the Zoning By-Law and Zoning Map of the Town of Saugus so that land shown on As- sessors' Plan 2053 as lot A-49 shall be rezoned for business purposes, agreeable to the petition of Roger M. Rich and others.
Art. 6. To see if the Town will vote to change the Zoning By-Law and Zoning Map of the Town of Saugus so that land shown on As- sessors' Plan 2053 as Lot A-16 con- taining about 0.97 Acres shall be rezoned for business purposes, agreeable to the petition of Wil- liam A. Daniels and others.
Art. 7. To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning By-Law and Zoning Map so that the south- erly side of Lot 54, Section A, be- ing located on the Lynn Fells Park- way, and now zoned as business, shall hereafter be zoned for resi- dential purposes. Planning Board

file in the Assessors' office, Sau- gus, Mass., containing 5,000 feet and the buildings thereon, and to appropriate therefor the sum of $14,187.50, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of the School Committee.

To see if the Town will appropriate and raise, by borrow- ing or otherwise, a sum not ex- ceeding $125,000 for the construc- tion of a school gymnasium on land owned or to be acquired by the Town at the High School property, so-called, including the acquisition of land in connection therewith and the original equipment and furnish- ings of said gymnasium.

To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $850.00, to be expended under the direction of the Town Treasurer, to investigate and to determine the validity of tax titles held by the Town, or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of the Town Treasurer.

Conway and others.

To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $6734.00 for the purpose of laying and relaying a water main of six- teen (16) inches diameter from Cliftondale Square to the Sweetser School; or to see what action the Town will take in the matter, agreeable to the petition of James L. Conway and others.
Art. 14. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $4216.50 for the purpose of surface drainage on Lincoln Avenue from Cliftondale Square to Central Street, or to see what action the Town will take in the mater, agree- able to the petition of James L. Conway and others.
