To the Citizens of the Town of Weymouth:
At the Annual Town Meeting held March 4th, 1935 it was voted under Article I, Item 34, that a Committee of nine be appointed from the various veterans and hereditary organizations, in accord- ance with the provisions of General Laws (Tercentenary Edition) Chapter 40, Section 5, Clause 12, by the Moderator who shall des- ignate the Chairman.
The following Committee was appointed: Henry B. Vogel, Honorary Chairman, Commander Reynolds Post 58, G.A.R .; C. Warren Clark, Chairman Designate, Commander Weymouth Post 79, A.L .; Daniel P. Cummings, Past Commander Weymouth Post 79, A.L .; Charles H. Cloudman, Past Commander Post 1399, V.F.W .; Roy H. Rosewell, Commander Ralph Talbot Chapter 36 D.A.V .; John Robinson, Commander Post 1399, V.F.W .; Thomas J. Terry, Past Commander Ralph Talbot Chapter 36, D.A.V .; Joseph Kelly, Sons of Union Vete- rans; Robert F. Van Meter, Commander Sons of Union Veterans.
The Committee organized and the first meeting was held at the Town Hall, East Weymouth, April 19th, 1935. Four additional meet- ings were held during May and one in June. All Meetings were well attended and very harmonious.
Chairman Clark called at Commander Henry B. Vogel's home and he expressed the wish that the program of the day be carried out in the same manner as last year and wished to convey to the Com- mittee his sincere regrets for his inability to attend meetings to illness
By vote of the meeting held April 30th, Thomas J. Terry (Past Commander Ralph Talbot Chapter 36, Disabled American Veterans of the World War) was named Chief Marshal and Henry B. Vogel ( Com- mander Reynolds Post 58, G.A.R. ) was named Honorary Chief Marshal. Parade formed at Hurley's Square (Thomas Corner) at 7:45 A.M. on Thursday, May 30th, and paraded over the usual route to various Cemeteries throughout the Town where Services and the Decoration of Graves were conducted by Veterans. The Veterans marched into the Cemeteries' and upon Command dispersed and covered graves. The potted plants, held by the Veterans during the playing of the hymn, were placed on the graves at the roll of the drums. The Veterans stood at attention during the volley, saluted at the first note of Taps and held salute through final note of echo. These exercises were repeated at eight Cemeteries in all parts of Weymouth.
Leaving Fairmont Cemetery, the parade proceeded to a posi- tion in front of Commander Henry B. Vogel's home where honors were paid to the only surviving member of Post 58, Grand Army of the Republic. It then proceeded to Commercial Square and then to tho Civic Centre where exercises were held under the direction of Reynolds Post 58, G.A.R., with Commander C. Warren Clark (of Weymouth Post American Legion) Chairman of the Memorial Day Com- mittee presiding. Those participating in the parade included all Veteran Organizations, Town Officials with Town Colors, Auxili- aries, Hereditary Organizations, Patriotic Societies and Boy and Girl Scout Troops.
Music was furnished by Weymouth Post 79, A.L. Band; Wessa- gussett Post 1399, V.F.W .; Fife & Drum Corps, Weymouth Post 79, A.L .; Drum & Bugle Corps and Boy Scouts of America Drum Corps.
A flag and potted flower was placed on each Veteran's grave while Memorial Monuments and Squares throughout the Town were decorated in a suitable manner. All purchases were through com-

petitive bidding. No balance was left in the Treasury since it was necessary this year to purchase 1000 rounds of ammunition at a cost of $34.20.
Every member of the Committee wishes to express his appre- ciation to the Police Department for the very efficient manner in which traffic was handled and to the School Department for the use of the High School cafeteria and also to the W.R.C. and aux- iliaries of Veterans Organizations for their untiring efforts in the preparation and serving of the very delicious meal at the con- clusion of exercises at the Ralph Talbot Memorial Theatre.
