MR. GEORGE E. LANE FOR THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE MOVED :


ARTICLE 3. That in order to aid the veterans of World War II to secure suitable homes the Town Moderator be instructed to appoint within fifteen days a Weymouth Veteran Housing Committee consisting of seven members. This Committee shall make a complete survey of the needs for veteran housing in Weymouth. It shall submit to the Appropriation Com- mittee on or before January 31, 1947 a complete report for the construction of homes for Weymouth veterans. This report shall include the use of any town owned properties which can be properly released for such purpose. The com- mittee shall make such recommendations which will expedite and assist in the construction of veteran homes during 1947. That the sum of $300.00 be raised and appropriated for the use of this Committee. That the Board of Selectmen be instructed to insert in the Warrant for the next Annual Town Meeting an article or articles for the purpose of taking action on veteran housing.

A complete report of the plans and cost shall be submitted to the Appropriation Committee on or before January 31, 1947. That the sum of $300.00 be raised and appropriated for the use of this Committee: And, further that the Board of Selectmen be instructed to insert an article in the Warrant for the next Annual Town Meeting for the purpose of appropriating funds for such a celebration. $300.00 UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. The Board of Registrars met in the Selectmen's Chamber on December 9, 1946 at 9:00 A.M. and proceeded by law to re-count the votes cast at the election held November 5, 1946 for the offices of Lieutenant Governor and Auditor of the Commonwealth respectively.


Credentails were presented covering Roy H. Rosewell, Charles W. Burgess and Harry E. Bearce to act as Agents for Arthur W. Coolidge and Russell A. Wood. Mr. Francis A. Gunn produced credentials certifying him to act as Agent for Paul A. Dever and Thomas J. Buckley.


The following were certified as Observers in the interest of the Republican Candidates: Mrs. Prescott B. Brown, Mrs. Francis Farr, Mrs. Ann Sampson, Mrs. Charles Gibson and Mrs. Marion Osborn; and the following were certified as Observers in the interest of the Democratic Candidates: Mrs. Amy H. Duncan, John H. Stonely, A. G. Higgins, Everett E. Callahan and James H. Towle.


The following Assistant Registrars were appointed: Mrs. Alice H. Kalag- han, Mrs. Grace Cote, Miss Kathryn A. Melville, Miss Alice Cullen, Horace Smith and Henry Cote.
