Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was


UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: That the Town vote to empower and authorize the Board of Selectmen to accept as a gift, purchase, or take by Right of Eminent Domain, in fee, 410 square feet of land on the southerly side of Columbian Street and Fogg Road, as per Plan of F. S. Lagrotteria, Town Engineer, dated August 11, 1960, entitled, "Plan of Land in South Weymouth"; and that the sum of $4,200.00 be raised and appropriated from tax levy to round off the corner and install curbing and sidewalk on Fogg Road the length of the church property; and provided further, that said work shall be done under the direction of the Department of Public Works. 4,200.00


ARTICLE 58. (By Petition). To see if the Town will vote to abandon a town right of way between Pilgrim and Squanto Roads and bordered by lots 12-13 in Block 30 and Lots 1-24 in Block 31 on Sheet 4 of the Town of Weymouth Atlas and to authorize the Board of Selectmen to sell such land to the abutters or take any other action in relation thereto.


Upon motion duly made by the Appropriation Committee, it was UNANIMOUSLY VOTED: No action.


ARTICLE 59. (At Request of Weymouth Police Association, Inc.) To see if the Town will vote to amend Article 4, Section 409 of the Town By-Laws by accepting the following change in the classification and pay plan under item entitled Vacation. Paid vacation time shall be granted to all regular full-time employees in accordance with thei following table:


6 months to 1 year 1 year to 10 years 10 years to 15 years


Over 15 years


One Week Two Weeks Three Weeks Four Weeks


Vacation time shall be taken within each calendar year and shall not be cumulative from one year to another, or take any other action in relation thereto.

ARTICLE 60. (At Request of Weymouth Police Association, Inc.). To see if the Town will vote to accept Chapter 628, of the Acts of 1953, which provides for the indemnification of certain retired police officers and fire fighters for certain hospital, medical and surgical. expenses, or take any other action in relation thereto.

Gentlemen:


Submitted herewith is the Annual Report of the Town Clerk for the year ending December 29, 1961.


The refund from the Norfolk County Treasurer for dog licenses amounted to $4,233.88, which is an increase of about $900.00 over last year, and will again be used for schools. There has been an increase in the revenue from fees and licenses of about $1,400.00


With a look to the future, for safety and preservation, I am ask- ing the town to provide funds to microfilm vital statistics and other records.


Duties and responsibilities have been carried out smoothly and efficiently by the staff in the office.


I should like to extend my thanks to your Board and all depart- ments for the courtesies and co-operation given to me during the year.
