APPRECIATION

With the end of 1960, the Town of Mendon regretfully received the resignation notices from three of its town officers who, in the aggregate, served the interests of this town for approximately eighty years.

For their untiring and faithful services, the Town of Mendon expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation at a banquet held in their honor on the evening of November 18, 1961. We, as a town, would be remiss in our duties if no men- tion was made here of this unusual length of service which seldom has been found in the annals of our town.

The Chapter 90 Construction on North Avenue was started later this year than usual. The drainage which consisted of 2600 feet of pipe was installed. Also 17 units consisting of Man- holes, Drop Inlets and Catch Basins were built.

Due to the cold weather it seemed advisable not to start the road excavation and possibly have to leave it with a gravel base during the winter months.

A request has been made and granted by the Department of Public Works in Boston, to hold the balance in this account over to 1962.
