Article 10. To see what action the town will take in reference to the followingsections of Francis E. Howard's will.
Sections from the will and codicil of F. E. Howard, deceased. First :- To George M. Pratt, treasurer of this town, or to his successor, the sum of two thousand dollars in trust, for a fund to be known as the Howard Poor Fund, with authority to invest the same in safe and productive bonds, stocks or estate, and to apply the income thereof, but no part of the principal for re- lieving the poor and unfortunate in town, not inmates of the almshouse, at the discretion of the overseers of the poor in town, provided the town shall within three years from the probate of my will change its corporate name of West Bridgewater to some short, simple and appropriate name without any prefix or compass desig- nation.
Second :- To the treasurer of Pine Hill Cemetery in this town, whoever he may be at the probate of my will, the sum of one thousand dollars, the income but no part of the principal to be expended as the salary, whole or in part, of the superintendent, whose duty it shall be to improve and beautify the condition and appearance of said cemetery. Third : - I also give and bequeath to the treasurer of Pleasant Hill Cem- etery, Cochesett, in this town, whoever he may be at the time of the probate of my will, a like sum of one thousand dollars for a like purpose, with the same con- ditions as regards Pine Hill Cemetery. Both of these funds to be known as the Howard Cemetery Funds.
25
Fourth :- Should the town neglect or refuse to change its corporate name within the specified time, all three of these proposed bequests are to be con- sidered null and void, and not to be paid by my exe- cutors. .
In this codicil to my will bearing date, November twentieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, I desire to make the following changes, viz: First, in section first of my will of above date, in the ninth line, where these words are inserted "within three years from the probate of my will," to have it read within two years from the probate of my will. In the first line, instead of George M. Pratt insert Frank L. Howard. Second and Third, in sections second and third of my will of the above date, where reference is had to the salary of the superintendent of the cemeteries, it is my wish and desire that it be twenty cents per hour for work actually done, and the balance each year be reserved to procure and set out ornamental trees on the avenues of either or both cemeteries.
Fourth: -- In section fourth of the will of the above date, after the words "specified time" in second line, insert two years.
CAUCUS.
A citizens' caucus will be held in town hall, on Mon- day evening, March 2, 1903, at 7.30 o'clock, for the purpose of nominating all town officers for the ensuing year.
