ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION
Arlington, Mass., March 4, 1946
In pursuance of the foregoing Warrant the legal voters of the Town of Arlington met in their respective voting places in said Town on Monday, the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-six at seven o'clock in the forenoon.
The following places were designated as the voting places for the various precincts.
Precinct One, in the Crosby School Building, entrance on Winter Street; Precincts Two and Four, in the Hardy School Building, entrance on Lake Street; Precincts Three and Five, in the Junior High School Building East, en- trance on Tufts Street; Precincts Six and Eight, in the Town Hall; Precincts Seven and Nine, in the Russell School Building; Precinct Seven, entrance on Medford Street; Precinct Nine, entrance on Mystic Street; Precincts Ten and Twelve, in the Cutter School Building, entrance on Robbins Road; Precinct. Eleven, in the Highland Hose House, entrance on Massachusetts Avenue; Precinct Thir- teen, in the Peirce School Building, entrance of Park Ave- nue North, Heights ; Precinct Fourteen, in the Locke School Building, entrance on Park Avenue, Heights.
The election officers, having been duly appointed by the Selectmen, and sworn to the faithful performance of their duties, were assigned to the various precincts.
The necessary ballots prepared for each precinct and all other paraphernalia for the purper conduct of the elec- tion was supplied by the Town Clerk and turned over to the officers of the various precincts.
The polls were declared open in each precinct at seven o'clock in the morning and remained open until eight o'clock in the evening, at which time, after due notice, they were declared closed.
The ballots were counted by the election officers and encased in boxes, which were locked and sealed, and the

same delivered by direction of the Town Clerk to the Police Station where they were placed under police guard until after the expiration of the time within which a petition for recount might be filed.
The returns and keys to the ballot boxes from each precinct were turned over to the Town Clerk and with the assistance of the Registrars of Voters and Mr. Clarence Needham the returns were canvassed and the result an- nounced.

ARLINGTON TOWN REPORT
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Arlington, March 13, 1946
Pursuant to the Warrant of the Selectmen served ac- cording to law upon the inhabitants of Arlington by a Constable of said Town, notices having been sent by mail by the Town Clerk seven days before the day of meeting to the Town Meeting Members elected and qualified to act in Town Meetings in Arlington, and advertised in two local papers, the Town Meeting Members met in the Robbins Memorial Town Hall on Wednesday evening, March 13, 1946.
Lists containing the names of Town Meeting Members of the fourteen precincts were used at the entrance to the meeting place and were in charge of Philip T. Robinson and James E. Sweeney; they were filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting and showed that two hundred Town Meeting Members and ten Members-at-large at- tended.
The Moderator, Mr. Ernest W. Davis, called the meet- ing to order at 8:10 P. M.
Town Meeting Members not previously sworn were sworn by the Moderator.
There being no objection to the request of Chairman Peterson, permission was granted to Messrs. Adams and Cahalin of the Board of Selectmen; Mr. Golden, the Secre- tary of the Board of Selectmen; Messrs. Smith and Marsh of the Board of Public Works; Messrs. Kimball, Fish, Wise, Tufts, Phiney and Young of the Finance Committee, and Mr. Smith, Executive Secretary of the Finance Committee, to sit with him during the meeting.
The Town Clerk read the Call for the Meeting and the Constables return thereon, the reading of the remainder of the Warrant being waived by consent of the meeting:

Voted: That the sum of fifteen thousand one hundred seventy eight and 75/100 ($15,178.75) dollars be and here- by is appropriated for the payment to the County of Mid- dlesex of amounts assessed upon or otherwise payable by the Town under Warrant issued by the County Commis- sioners in accordance with Chapter 500, Section 1, of the Acts of 1943 for: (A) the Town's share of the care, main- tenance and repair of Middlesex County Tuberculosis Hos- pital during the last preceding calendar year, including interest on temporary notes issued thereof, in accordance with sections of Chapter 111 of the General Laws applicable thereto; (B) the Town's share of any and all other expen- ses in connection with said hospital, including expenses under section 25G (6) (a). of Chapter 32 of the General Laws inserted by Chapter 400 of the Acts of 1936; said sum to be raised by General tax and expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.
There being no further business under Article 4, the Moderator declared it disposed of.
