The result of the count of the votes cast at the town election was forwarded to the Secretary of State.
In accordance with Section 61 of Chapter 51 of the General Laws, the return of registered voters at the close of registration on February 14, was forwarded to the Secretary of State.
In accordance with Section 132 of Chapter 54 of the General Laws, the total number of names of voters checked on the voting lists in each precinct was forwarded to the Secretary of State.
In connection with the work of the Department of Corporations and Taxation, a list of the town officials was forwarded to the Director of Accounts.
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING, MARCH 20, 1950
Pursuant to the Warrant of the Selectmen served according to law upon the inhabitants of the Town of Arlington by a constable of said town and notices sent by mail by the Town Clerk at least seven days before the day of meeting to the town meeting members elected and qualified to act in town meetings in Arlington, under the provisions of Chapter 43-A of the General Laws, as amended, and published in the local newspapers, as required by the town's by-laws, the town meeting members so qualified met in the Robbins Memorial Town Hall in said town on Monday evening, March 20, 1950. The Warrant calling the meeting was the notice sent by mail by the Town Clerk.

Lists of the duly qualified town meeting members were used at the entrances of the meeting place and were in charge of Philip T. Robinson and James E. Sweeney. The lists contained the names of two hundred and fifty-five (255) town meeting members qualified to participate in and vote in town meetings in Arlington.
The check lists filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting showed that two hundred and twenty-six (226) members and eight (8) members-at-large attended the meeting.
Philip H. Burt, stenographer, was sworn by the Town Clerk to the faithful performance of his duties.
The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.M. by the Moderator, Mr. Harold E. Magnuson, who declared a quorum present.
The town meeting members, not previously sworn, were thereupon sworn by the Moderator.
The Town Clerk read the call for the meeting and the Constable's return thereon, the reading of the remainder of the Warrant being waived by consent of the meeting.
There being no objection to the request of J. Howard Hayes of the Finance Committee, permission was granted Mr. Frost of the Board of Selectmen; Mr. Nicksay, the Secretary of the Board of Selectmen; Messrs. O'Neill and Rawson of the Board of Public Works; Messrs. Hauser and Cooledge of the Board of Assessors; Mr. Hurd of the Board of Park Commissioners; Messrs. Flynn and Mansfield of the Personnel Board; Mr. Morris, Executive Secretary of the Personnel Board; Messrs. O'Reilly, Fish, Daniels, Wise, Halpin, Farrow, Robson and Rutherford of the Finance Committee, and Mr. Smith, Executive Secretary of the Finance Committee, to sit with him during the meeting.

Voted: That payment to the County of Middlesex of amounts assessed upon or otherwise payable by the Town under Warrant issued by the County Commissioners in accordance with Chapter 500, Section 1, of the Acts of 1943 for: (A) the Town's share of the care, maintenance and repair of Middlesex County Tuberculosis Hospital during the last preceding calendar year, including interest on temporary notes issued therefor, in accordance with sections of Chapter III of the General Laws applicable thereto; (B) the Town's share of any and all other expenses in connection with said hospital, including expenses under section 25G (6) (a) of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, inserted by Chapter 400 of the Acts of 1936; be and hereby is authorized, ratified and confirmed.
