The following annual report of the Town Clerk for the year ending December 31, 1952, is herewith submitted, in accordance with the Town's By-Laws.


The total of fees collected by the department during the year was $13,368.32, an increase of $1,178.52 over the revenue collected in the pre- ceding year. Of this amount, $4,115.50 was for conservation licenses and $4,343.60 was for dog licenses.

During the year, the Board held thirty-three evening sessions in various public buildings throughout the Town for the registration of voters at which 3,049 persons were qualified to vote in elections. An additional 2,637 persons were so qualified during the regular business hours at the Office of the Town Clerk. A total of 5,686 names were, therefore, added to the voting list.


The total number of registered voters at the close of registration for the State Election on October 3, 1952, was 26,990, divided into voting precincts, as follows:

ARLINGTON TOWN REPORT


In connection with the two elections and two primaries, 12 articles submitted to your Board on petition of registered voters for insertion in the Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting, and 422 nomination papers were certified. For these four elections, held respectively on March 3, April 29, September 16 and November 4, the Registrars were in session throughout the entire periods during which the polls were opened, after which they assisted in the tabulation of the returns of votes from each of the precincts until 12:45 A.M. on March 4; 11:15 A.M. on April 30; 3:30 A.M. on September 17, and 4:00 A.M. on November 5.


The voting lists and all other records of voters of Precincts 10, 12 and 14 are now in the process of being changed to read respectively, Precincts 10A and/or 10B, 12A and/or 12B, 14A and/or 14B, so as to conform to the Order adopted by your Board, which became effective on December 31, dividing each of such precincts into two contiguous parts for the sole purpose of facilitating voting therein.
