Edmund Richardson; birth not on Woburn Record, and not named in Vinton's Richardson Memorial. From the Probate Records, it appears that he left a widow, Lydia, and " one child only, who is a minor." He was a cordwainer, and owned a house and about an acre of land in North Woburn, bounded on the Middlesex Canal. Charles Carter was adminis- trator of his estate.

" His mind was tranquil and serene No terror in his looks was seen, His Saviour's smile dispelled the gloom And smoothed his passage to the tomb."

Her father, Joseph, was born in Philadelphia, and is buried in Copp's Hill Burying-Ground, Boston. Minot Johnson, her husband, was a son of Munson and Betsey (Munroe) Johnson, who were married in Lexington, March 20, 1798. died very suddenly at the residence of his mother, in Woburn, during a vacation, Feb. 15. 1832, in the 20th year of his age. He was a young man of superior talent and of rare promise. His early unexpected death was a sore affliction to his friends, and sincerely deplored by all who knew him. (Rev. L. Thompson, biographical notices Alumni Warren Academy, deliv- ered at the reunion, Nov. 10, 1870. )

The parents, John C. Brackett, of Woburn, and Mary M. Smith, of Lex- ington, were married May 15, 1827. He drove a stage to Boston, and kept a stable where Lyceum Hall now is; was later a prominent mem- ber of the Baptist Church, and representative to the General Court in 1845.

Job Miller, of Charlestown, married Sarah Gould (epitaph 319), of Woburn. Marriage intention dated Jan. 13, 1776 (see epitaph 350) ; he served in the Revolutionary War.

" Farewell my father, fond and dear, Death has called and we must part, Which has often caused our tears to flow."


Jonathan Tyler and Rhoda Bruce (epitaph 163), married May 1, 1781, by Rev. J. Marrett. He was son of Moses and Eleanor, born June 14, 1760.


(210.) " Erected In memory of Mr Uri Beers, who died May 1, 1833, Æt. 34.


" If aught on earth would keep me here, It is my wife and children dear ; But Jesus calls and I must go To dwell with him, and angels too; O' that the sinner when he sees These lines erected here by me, Would think on eternity, and pray, Lord prepare me for that day ! "


Uri Beers; birth not on Woburn Record. Uri Beers and Mary Knight, both of Woburn, married April 25, 1822.

(212.) " In memory of Mr. Ezra W. Reed, who died Dec. 13, 1833 ÆEt. 43."


Ezra W. Reed, son of Daniel and Elizabeth (Wyman) Reed, married Fanny Fowle, Oct. 27, 1814. He was a blacksmith, with a shop near the site of the present Baptist church; later had a shop on the spot now

occupied by the Municipal Building, and still later he was located at the corner of Pleasant and North Warren Streets. The Probate Records refer to minor children, James (over 14 years of age) and Fanny F. (under 14 years of age). His widow, Fanny, was appointed administratrix of his estate. (213.) " In memory of Mrs. Mary P. Reed, who died Jan. 7, 1834, ÆEt. 40.


" Ah, can it be, and hast thou gone, And left us thus to grieve alone. And is thy gentle spirit fled, And is my own dear Mother dead."


Joshua Reed and Mary Parker were married Aug. 4, 1812.


(214.) "Daniel Wyman son of Mr. Oliver B. and Mrs. Almira W. Coolidge, died April 9, 1834, Et. 4 months & 19 days.


" Like snow that falls upon a river, A moment white, then gone forever."


Daniel Wyman Coolidge, son of Oliver B. and Almira W. Coolidge, born Nov. 21, 1833.


(215.) " In memory of Mrs. Hannah, wife of Col. Leonard Thompson, who was born March 17, 1790 & died April 17, 1834, _Et. 44.


" My dearest friends, weep not for me, I am relieved from pain, My love to you on earth was strong, Yet death to me is gain."


Hannah (Wyman) Thompson, born and died as above stated, married Col. Leonard Thompson. Nov. 19, 1812; his first wife. She was daughter of Daniel (epitaph 192) and Hannah ( Wright) Wyman (epitapli 287). Her husband married (2d) Anna B. Mead, Dec. 3, 1835 ; she died Feb. 22, 1855, aged 51 years. He is yet living (1874), one of the oldest citizens of Woburn.


(216.) " Erected in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Pollard, who died Aug. 30, 1834, Aged 69.


" Behold, all you that do pass by, As you are now so once was I. As I am now, so you must be, Prepare for death and follow me."


Mrs. Pollard was Elizabeth, daughter of Samuel and Susanna (Swan) Watts, born Oct. 9, 1762. (Woburn Records. ) She lived in the house of John Fowle, 2d, her nephew, which stood then in the present yard of the First Congregational Church. She had a son, who went to California, and a daughter Elizabeth.
