GOVER (Cont) Samuel & Hannah (Cont)
(Hannah (Webster) Gover, widow of the above-sd Samuel Gover, m 2nd 20-2mo (Apr) 1749 OS, Nathan Richardson)
A Men's Minute (p 170) dtd 6-9mo-1742 says: "This Mtg hath signed a cert to recommend Samuel Gover to Friends in London (England), he being bound thither as master of a ship with intent to return." On 20-6-1743 Samuel Gover produced a cert from Horsley Down Mtg in Southwark, London, England recommending him as of orderly conversation whilst among them; & intending to ret speedily in the same capacity of Master of a ship req a cert back to London; his cert was issued to him 17-7-1743; but he was rptd lost at sea.
rocf New Garden MM, PA, 15-3-1742, dtd 28-4-1735 Mary Green, wife of James, was rocf Center MM, PA, 21-6-1736 (Note: Altho James & Mary Green & ch have lived within the verge of this Mtg since 1735, James did not present his cert for our acceptance until 1742.)
(New Garden Minutes show: 1734-11-25, James Green gct Newark MM to m Mary Harry, dt of the widow Harry. 1735-4-28, James Green gct Nottingham MM, MD 1746-6-30 James Green & w & ch rocf Nottingham MM, MD, dtd 19-5-1746

1755-6-28, Mary Green & ch get Cane Creek MM, NC (except her eldest dt, Elizabeth, who was mcd, as rptd 27-9-1755 to Wm Jordan) her ack acc on that date.)
(It is evident that at the time of the marriage of James Green & Mary Harry, they decided to ask their mtgs for certs to Nottingham MM, MD, which Mtg at that time was supposed to be located in PA, but was later set off by the boundary line, into MD; altho the cert for Mary & ch to NC does not mention James, her husband, he doubtless rem to NC with his family, altho no longer a mbr of the Society. For further info re this fam, see H-volI)
Nottingham Minutes resumed: James Green & w Mary req cert New Garden MM, PA in 6th mo, 1745; but on account that he had not settled his debts, the cert was not issued until this had been done; with his wife & ch he was get New Garden MM, PA, 19-5- 1746.
