MORGAN Morgan Family:

Ann

E Nottingham PM "informs (17-11mo (Jan) -1735/6) that the familie of the Morgans are of such behaviour one with another, as is a matter of gross scandal to our profession. Jeremiah Brown, John Everitt, John White & Wm Brown are appointed to take an opportunity & inform them, that unless they condemn ye same & amend for ye future, Friends must disown them." This comm rptd 17-2mo (Apr) 1736 that the Morgans live so far distant that it is difficult to speak with them; with Jacob Kirk added to them, they continued. On 15-3mo (May) it was rptd that Jacob Kirk had "rem from hereaway"; so John White & John Churchman were added to join the other men "In order to deliver the message of ye mtg to them if possible; and if those of them who are most faulty do not appear to give satisfaction, to prepare a testimony against them." At the mtg held 16-8-1736 John & Robert Morgan were dis; "the former for drunkenness & the latter for fighting with his brethern & giving extreme bad language; the rest are continued under care & farther dealing for awhile; except Joseph, who being guilty of the same disorder of fighting with his brother Robert; John Piggott & John White are appointed to inform him that unless he speedily makes satisfaction he will be dis likewise." Joseph's ack acc 15-11- 1736/7.

On 21-3-1752 Bush River PM informed that David Morgan "hath been guilty of drinking strong liquor to excess & using unbecoming language"; he was dis, but before the testimony was read, he produced a paper, which was acc as satisfaction, and the charge erased.
