BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES.
JOHN . R. VINE,
Of Weston, representative from the second district of Lenawee county, was born in Fulton county, Ohio, August 22, 1853, of German and French parents. He was educated in the common schools of Fulton county, Ohio. In 1884 he removed to Fairfield town- ship, Lenawee county, Michigan, where he has since been engaged in farming. He has been supervisor for twelve successive years. Mr. Vine is married. He is a Republican and was elected to the legislatures of 1915-1920, and re-elected November 2, 1920, by a vote of 6,822 to 3,029 for John W. Koehn.
FRED WADE,
Of Saugatuck, representative from the second district of Allegan county, was born at Douglas, Michigan, June 29, 1862, of English parents. He received his education in the district schools and graduated from high school at Fremont, Michigan, in 1879. He learned the printing trade and for twenty years has published a newspaper at Saugatuck. He served as postmaster for twenty-five years. Mr. Wade is married. He is a Repub- lican and has held most of the village and township offices. He was elected to the legislature November 2, 1920, by a majority of 3,717.
FRED L. WARNER,
Of Belding, representative from Ionia county, was born at Penn Yan, New York, September 16, 1877, of English parents. He was educated in the Penn Yan high school, the Palmer Institute of Lakemont, New York, and the University of Michigan, graduating from the law department of the latter in 1907. He immediately located in the city of Belding and began the practice of law in which he is now engaged. He held the office of secretary of the board of education for six years and has been city attorney for several years. Mr. Warner is married and has two children. He is a Republican and was elected to the legislatures of 1915-16, 1917-18 and 1919-20, and re-elected November 2, 1920, by a vote of 8,001 to 3,573 for Fred Eddy.
JOSEPH EDWIN WARNER,
Of Ypsilanti, representative from the second district of Washtenaw county, was born on a farm near Ypsilanti, Michigan, March 14, 1870, and is of English descent. His education was acquired in the rural schools and later in the Michigan State Normal College. In 1893 he was married to Lottie A. Ferguson of Almont, and they have three children. He is a dairy farmer specializing in the breeding of Jersey cattle. He has served his township as clerk and treasurer, and for six years served as district county road commissioner. Early in life he identified himself with the Grange and Farmers' Institute Society, having been president of the Washtenaw County Farmers' Institute Society for four years. He is also interested in Ypsilanti civic affairs, at present serving as director of the board of commerce. He is a member of Phoenix Lodge F. & A. M., Queen City Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Warner is a Republican and was elected to the legislature November 2, 1920, by a vote of 6,224 to 2,114 for Henry E. Frein.
JOSEPH E. WATSON,
Of Bronson, representative from Branch county, was born at Center Sandwich, New . Hampshire, July 8, 1860. His parents were descended from the early settlers of New England. He received his education in the public schools of Center Sandwich and at the Lyndon Center Seminary, Lyndon Center, Vermont. He came to Michigan at the age of twenty-two years. For more than twenty years he engaged in mercantile business in Bronson, after which he entered the banking business, being president of the First State Savings Bank for nine years. Governor Fred M. Warner. He is a member of Moslem Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S., of Detroit. He was a member of the Republican state central committee four years and was elected to the legislature November 5, 1918, and re-elected November 2, 1920, by a vote of 5,812 to 2,219 for Delbert E. Williams.
GEORGE W. WELSH,
Of Grand Rapids, representative from the first district of Kent county, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, March 27, 1883. He was educated in the public schools of Glasgow and Grand Rapids. He was connected with the Grand Rapids Evening Press from 1895 to 1906, since which time he has been publisher of a farm magazine, "The Fruit Belt." He served as alderman for two terms, and is a member of the various Masonic branches in Grand Rapids. Mr. Welsh is married. He is a Republican and was elected to the, legislature in 1916 and 1918, and re-elected November 2, 1920, by a plurality of of 15,820.
FRED B. WELLS,
Of Dowagiac, representative from Cass county, is descended from real Puritan stock, the first members of the family to come to America arriving in Rhode Island in 1667. He was born on a farm in Wayne township, Cass county, Michigan, February 16, 1861. In April, 1866, he removed with his parents to LaGrange township, and was educated in the district school and the Dowagiac high school. He is a member of the Masonic lodge and the Grange. Mr. Wells is married and has two children, a son and a daughter. He is a Republican and was elected to the legislatures of 1915-16, 1917-18 and 1919-20, and re-elected November 2, 1920, by a vote of 4,426 to 2,365 for Sylvester P. Ball.
ARI H. WOODRUFF,
Of Ford, representative from the fourth district of Wayne county, was born at Wyandotte, Michigan, November 1, 1888, of Irish-Dutch parentage. He was educated in the Wyan- dotte public schools and graduated from the Detroit College of Law in June, 1911, and has been practicing law ever since. He is a member of Washington Lodge No. 213, K. of P., Wyandotte Lodge No. 170, F. & A. M., and E. B. Ward Lodge No. 172, I. O. O. F. Mr. Woodruff is married. He is a Republican and was elected to the legislatures of 1915-16, 1917-18 and 1919-20, and was re-elected November 2, 1920, without opposi- tion.

REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICTS.
Act No. 336, of 1913, apportioning anew the representatives in the State legislature, was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in Stevens v. Secretary of State, 181/199. The districts as shown in the following tables are in conformity with the last valid reapportionment by Act No. 244, of 1905, and as divided by the boards of super- visors in accordance with such apportionment, following the census of 1904. The fol- lowing counties in this division have two or more representative districts:
