" Mr. Waddell & Mr. Taylor kept no record in this book "
* A copy of this ancient record was made by the Rev. Harry Finch, ai led by his wife. They were prompted to this good work to save the original book, which was showing ranid marginal decay and suffering from the corrosive action of the ink. They rear- ranged the entries so as to bring the marriages, baptisms, and burials under separate headings, and so continued them from the beginning to the end. In the copy here produced the record is only brought to Ises, but the original arrangement is strictly adhered to, and the text has been carefully compared. Besides com-iling .'s transcript of the Church Register, Mr. Finch made extensive searches into the early history of the church and its possessions, alike va'nable and interesting, and which will be intro- duced in their entirety further on. Mr. Finch's copy of the Register is in the possession of the curate. and is the one generally con- sulted: the original, when I had access to it, was in the possession of Mr. Allen at Shrewsbury. opposite the church, but has since passed to the care of another official (with it a package of old papers), and is deposited in a bank vault in Red Bank. It is to be regre :: ed that breaks occur in the chronology of the record. It is worthy of note that interments in the churchyard were not invari- ably registered in this record, and, on the other hand, there are a"usions in the record to interments of which there are now no traces in the yard.
