CAMPBELL, WERT, DIETZ

My grand parents, Mary Phoebe Campbell and Nicholas Wert attend- ed Fairfield Seminary or maybe just my grandmother. Mary and

Nicholas were married May 16, 1854.

I knew nothing about Mary Camp- bell other than that she was born in 1832 and her father was Abner. She was related to Vroomans. When she was little she was not allowed to eat apples from one of the Vrooman trees which was a shrine from one of Brant's raids. One of her ances- tors was "Pull Foot" Vrooman-who ever he was. I imagine this was in Schoharie county. I believe she was connected to the Swart or Schwarts families but how I do not know. I

Want parents names of Mary (Pol- understand the lands were burned ly) Olcott born June 6, 1767. Died and the family shipped to Ireland from whence they fled to America. They could, if they cared to wear, the plume. But whatever that meant I never knew. They were highland Campbells. Abner died rather young and his wife married a man named Dietz who had a daughter Esther I have letters from her. She died while travelling in Europe in 1875. Would anyone know about these families ?

WRIGHT

My husband's family lived to great ages so his lines are well trac- ed. Last summer we went to a little village near Zennington, Vt., Shafts- bury Hollow, to take pictures of the Wright homestead and graves. The old homestead property was Y. and Vermont. Old letters state that some of the Wrights went to the far west to take up land-to Herkimer county, from thence my husband's family traveiled to Oswe- go county. We think our families may be related so if anyone has Wright data I would appreciate it.

Peter Wright, born Hempstead, L. I. July 9, 1740, married Elizabeth 'Baker July 9, 1761, St. George's church, Hempstead. Died and bur- led in Shaftsbury Hollow August 16, 1819. His children were John (my husband's ancestor), Hannah, Sam- uel born April 4, 1766, Daniel, born 1770 (no data in our book), Mary (no data), Deborah (no data), Eliz- abeth, Joseph, Peter, Seamon. We have fairly complete data on most of these.

Family tradition says my great

great grandfather was Samuel Wright. I have an old family album

is of the Wright family. There Thomas (my great grandfather) who married twice ,each time a Hannah. The children I can name are Abra- ham, killed in Civil War, buried in a Methodist cemetery in Tennessee: Samuel Fletcher, called Fletcher, so as not to- confuse him with other cousins also named for grandfather Fletcher was lame from a Civil War Injury. James Ira, called Iry, who lived in Schenectady when I was about 12-1914-16. He was a small old man and lived with his daugh- ter whose name was May. Fils daughter Effie married my uncle, William Sloan, her cousin. They are now dead. Rebeccah married twice, no children and Lucretia born Nov. 10, 1840 at Berne, my grandmother who married Peter Sloan. I also find a Le Grand Wright with "uncle”

written after it. Some Wrights moved to Ohio where my mother vis- ited when small. I don't know which -' of these children were those of the first marrlage. My grandmother's

mother died when she was very small and grandmother went to live with her grandparents. There was a James Scott-whether he was a grand or great grandparent of Lu- cretia I don't know. The Scott home PERRY sttod near or where the Schoharie Buried in Twp. of Kinderhook are Mary Love, wife of Benjamin Perry died May 10, 1830, age 71 years, 10 court house was built. There was a Christina Scott, whether that was her married or maiden name I do | months, 27 days and Benjamin died not know. She would have been Lu. cretia's grandmother, I think. They were related to the Biumestalk (I'm not sure of the spelling) family as well as a family which came from Switzerland and named Aukenback or some such name. Does any one know about any of these families ? It seems reasonable to believe that Samuel Wright was my ancestor and perhaps the son of Peter. Oth- er pictures in the album are those of Danlel Wright after which Is writ. ten "2nd cousin." Also Anna Wright
