In 1793 moved to Nazareth. Of her nine children, eight survived their mother.

Of his nine children, eight survived their father : Elizabeth (married Andrew Whitesell), John, Anna Johanna (married Jacob Eckensberger), Joseph, Anna Catharine, Sarah, Jacob and Thomas. In 1793 moved to a farm at Nazareth. His wife died in 1828.

Married Andrew Busse (minister), Sept. 9, 1785, and with him served in Gnadenthal, Old Nazareth and Nazareth. Her husband died Jan. 22, 1806. She had a son and a daughter. Aged 75 years.

428. John Weinland. xv, s. 17. Oct. 28. Born in Old Nazareth, Sept. 3, 1750, son of John Nicholas and Philippine (Loesch) Weinland. He was in the Nazareth nursery until his twelfth year. Then he went to Bethlehem, to learn the saddler's trade. Later he carried on business in Hope, N.J. By an accident, he lost the sight in one eye. Moved to Lititz, then to Philadelphia, where he married Philippine Boemper. After living 35 years on a farm at Hope, N. J., moved to Nazareth in 1813. He had two sons and seven daughters, of whom three daughters died in infancy. Here at Nazareth he was "Fremden Diener " at the Inn.

In 1794, March 27, married Henry Albright. United with the congregation at Lititz in 1810. She had ten children ; six sons and four daughters.

431. John Frederick Schaefer. xvi, s. I. June 22. Born in Gnadenthal, Oct. 28, 1757. Married Anna Rosina Gold, May, 1787. He had three daughters. He was "erster Saaldiener" (chief sexton).

433. Nicholas Elias Hoeber. xvi, s. 2. Aug. 4. Warden at Nazareth. Born June 4, 1760, in Schleswig. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1778, July 10, united with the Brethren's congregation in Zeist, Holland. After the Synod of 1789, he received a call as Brethren's laborer in Nazareth. In 1799 called to Heidelberg, Pa., as minister, and was married, Feb. 14, to Johanna Sophia Lehman, and was ordained as deacon in Lititz. Two years later, he was called to Bethel, as pastor. In 1808 became warden at Nazareth. Two sons survived.

436. Susanna Seyfried, m.n. Ehrenhard. xiii, n. 6. Sept. 15. Born in Emmaus, Jan. 17, 1759. Married Nicholas Seyfried in Bethlehem, Feb. 28, 1780. Lived several years in the neighborhood of Bethlehem, then at Friedensthal ; 1808 at Old Nazareth and later at Nazareth. She had two children. On Feb. 28, 1830, celebrated her "golden wedding."

In 1769 united with the congregation there. In 1786 moved to Nazareth. She was sick-nurse in the Sisters' House.

Her parents were Rudolph and Rosina Mettler. 1782, received into the congregation at Gnadau. Married John Bardill, Aug., 1787, and they served nearly twelve years as missionaries in Antigua, W. I. Returning to this country on account of impaired health, served in Emmaus and New York, and, for a short time, at Goshen, on the Muskingum, among the Indians, until the station was abandoned. Came to Nazareth. She was 'paralyzed for several years, a severe fall occasioning death.

Went to Fairfield, Canada, as missionary among the Indians. In 1805, removed, with our Indians, to Petquoting and assisted ,in founding a new station. In 1807, on account of impaired health, was called to Emmaus. In 1810, as Agent of the Mission, removed to Muskingum. In 1818 returned to Nazareth.

He had ten children, of whom two sons and four daughters survived. His wife died in 1830.

Married Rosina Kremser in 1782, who died in 1789. In 1790 married Mary Edmonds, who died in 1820. By his first marriage he had two sons, and by the second six children, of whom four died. During last years of his life he lived with his son Gottfried Belling, near Nazareth.

462. Christian Henry Miller. xvi, s. 9. Sept. 17. Merchant. Born March 2, 1767, in Sachse Meinungen. When fourteen years old, united with the con- gregation in Ebersdorf. He was a hatter by trade. Later went to Chris- tiansfeld. In 1793 came to America, and worked as hatter for Brother Christ. Married Jacobina Fredericka Christ in 1795. The same year he assumed the management of the newly established store of the congregation. In 1829 bought the same, carrying it on in his own name. Died unex- pectedly.

When three days old, he was taken, with his parents, to San- dusky, by enemies of the mission. When six years old he entered Nazareth Hall as a pupil. When fourteen years old, he was employed in the store of the congregation. Married Anna Elizabeth Ritter, in Philadelphia, Nov. 27, 1806. He had five sons and two daughters, the latter dying in childhood.
482. William Hessler. xvi, s. 14. Dec. 22. Born in Bethlehem, Nov. 9, 1753. Educated in Nazareth Hall. When thirteen years of age, went to Christians- spring to learn weaving. Later, moved to Bethlehem, Lititz, etc. In 1788 moved to Hope, N. J., and married Hannah Brown, who died a few years later. In 1794 married Mary Magdalene Koehler, in Lititz. Continued to live in Hope until 1808, when he moved to Nazareth. One son survived.

483. Maria Catharine Miksch, m.n. Wingass. xiii, n. 12. Jan. 16. Born near Elberfield, Westphalia. Married George Hoeck. Of five children, only one daughter, Catharine, survived her mother. On the journey to America, her husband died in Holland. Her other four children having died, and having lost all her possessions, she came to Gnadenthal .. In 1809 she married John Christian Miksch, who died in 1823. Her age was 70 years.
484. Christian Samuel Michael. xvi, s. 15. March I. Born Nov. 10, 1767, in Kienhausen, near Erfurt. As musician, served his time in Barby. Came to America in 1795, with his brother Moritz, and united with the congregation in Nazareth. He became a skillful carpenter. Married Elizabeth Giersch, March 2, 1800. He had two sons and two daughters.

Lived in the Sisters' House at Bethlehem, then in Philadelphia, where she married John Weinland. With him she moved to Hope, N. J., and, in 1813, to Nazareth. Her husband died Oct., 1829. Of her nine children, six sur- vived. She had forty-nine grand children and thirty-six great-grandchildren. 492. George Proske. xvi, s. 16. Dec. 20. Born in Upper Silesia, Jan. 1, 1748. In 1768 went to Herrnhut, then to Zeist, where he united with the congrega- tion. During several years he was engaged at the mill in Sarepta, Russia. Later came to Christianspring. Married Maria Elizabeth Frey, in May, 1792. She died in 1816. Two sons and a daughter survived.

Served in Christianspring as the Superintendent (Pfleger) of the unmarried brethren, and as warden in Gnadenthal. In 1795 married Catharine Busch. In 1802 ordained a Deacon by Bishop Loskiel. His wife died Dec. 27, 1804. In 1806 married Maria Elizabeth Rothrock. One son, J. M. Miksch, (a prominent citizen of Bethlehem and member of the Church there) was the only surviving child of the first marriage. Of the second, two sons and two daughters survived.

In 1804 married the widower, Matthias Hanke, and after living for a time in Hope, N. J., returned to Nazareth.

516. Elizabeth Whitesell, m.n. Clewell. xii, n. 17. Feb. 19. Born in Plainfield, April 16, 1791. In 1817, July 20, married the widower Andrew Whitesell, and in 1818 moved from Mt. Bethel to Old Nazareth. She had two daughters.

520. Anna Maria Seyfried, m.n. Eyerly. xiii, n, 18. July 27. Born in Nazareth, April 12, 1792, daughter of Jacob and Anna Maria Eyerly. United with congregation in Hope, N.J. Married John Seyfried, March 29, 1813. She had six sons and three daughters.
521. John Jacob Brunner. xviii, s. 3. Aug. 7. Born in Old Nazareth, Dec. IO, 1786. Married Salome Beitel, Nov. 17, 1811. Of his six children, one son and three daughters survived.
522. Anna Eva Kaske, m. n. Heyne. ix, n, 17. Oct. 5. Born at Broadbay, Maine, July 20, 1756. Received into the congregation at Salem, N.C., in 1777. Married John Renatus Kaske in Gnadenthal, in 1789. Her husband died in 1823.

527. Caroline Elizabeth Christ. x, n. II. March 17. Unmarried sister. Born in Lititz, June 17, 1811. In April, 1830, moved to Nazareth, with her widowed mother, Anna Christ, who became sick-nurse in Nazareth Hall. She lived in the Sisters' House and in 1831 taught in the Girls' School.
528. Rudolph Hitz. xvii, s. 9. June 22. Son of John Hitz, consul to United States from Switzerland. The child died while the parents were visiting their son, Hans Hitz, a pupil in Nazareth Hall.
529. Elizabeth Schnall. x, n. 12. Sept. 16. Unmarried sister. Daughter of Jacob and Barbara (Rank) Schnall. Born in Old Nazareth, Oct. 29, 1791. After the death of her parents, she lived in the Sisters' House.

531. Edwin Samuel Kichline. xvii, s. 11. May 24. Infant son of Conrad and Eloisa Kichline.
532. Juliana Stotz, m.n. Eigenbrod. viii, n. 17. June 13. Born near Graceham, . Md., Feb. 12, 1766. In 1783 moved to Lititz, and there received into the congregation, Married Joseph Stotz of Nazareth, Dec., 1796. She had three sons and three daughters, of whom one daughter died in infancy. After the death of her husband, in Jan., 1825, she lived in Schoeneck, with her daughter, Mrs. George Beitel.

533. John Beitel. xviii, s. 4. Sept. 27. Born in Pilgerhut, near Berbice River, Surinam, where his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Beitel, were missionaries. In his fifth year he was brought to America, entering the school then existing in Fredericktown, Montgomery Co., Pa. When this was discontinued, he moved to Emmaus, remaining there two years. In 1752 went to Bethlehem .. 1756 to Christianspring, then to Bethlehem, etc. In 1771 united with the congregation at Nazareth. Married Juliana Schmidt in 1779. He had four children, two sons and two daughters. His wife died Feb. 15, 1824. His age was Ico years, less 84 days.
