Received into the congregation in Ico2. For many years she was cook in the Sisters' House. In 1823 became assistant to the Warden of the Sisters' House. In 1850 moved into the home of Brother and Sister Leibfried. Aged 68 years.

Lennert, Dec. 6, 1836, and served with him ten years at York, Pa. In 1847 at Lebanon, and in Nazareth seven years. She had four sons, two of whom died before their mother.

Married Dorothea (Friebele) Hessler, March 26, 1856. Died suddenly, in the Post Office in Wm. Beitel's store.

She had five sons and two. daughters, the latter deceased. Her husband died December 13, 1834. Since 1852 she was totally blind.

671. Christian Renatus Clewell. xx, s. 12. April 25. Son of Christian and Maria Rosina (Kreiter) Clewell. Born Oct. 13, 1813, in Niesky. Confirmed 1829. Married Mary Ann Seiss, Oct. 31, 1837. He had three sons and a daughter, of whom one son died. His parents died in 1847. He was an excellent musician, performing on various instruments. In 1851 he aban- doned his work and went to Philadelphia as teacher of music and organist. Died suddenly while playing the piano at a friend's house.

Her remains were brought here for interment.

In 1856 taught school in Hazleton, Pa .; later in Schuylkill Haven. Went to Philadelphia, in order to enter business; taken ill with varioloid, and died there. For many years suffered from occasional attacks of melancholy. On April 19, 1857, celebrated golden wedding. His married life was almost fifty-two years. He had six children ; four sons and two daughters, of whom one son and two daughters preceded him into eternity.

After the death of his father, moved with his mother to Lititz, learning the trade of shoemaker in the Brethren's House. Confirmed in 1807. In 1814 moved to Nazareth. In 1817 married Anna Johanna Seyfried. Both in Lititz and Nazareth assisted with the church-music, until three years before his death. Paralysis occa- sioned lameness and affected his speech. He had six sons and three daughters. One son and a daughter preceded him into eternity.

She had three sons and two daughters, two sons and a daughter preceding her into eternity. Her husband died May 2, 1834. In 1842 she had an attack of melancholy, which continued nearly six years.

Married Catharine Elizabeth Schneider, Nov. 9, 1813. He had four children, two sons and two daughters, of whom the eldest son died in childhood. He had heart-trouble.

In 1840 he and his wife were confirmed at Schoeneck. In 1853 united with Church at Nazareth. He had eight children, three sons and five daughters, of whom two daughters died in childhood.

In 1786 returned to his home and learned the trade of bookbinder from his father. In 1808 moved with his father and two sisters to Niesky. Married Johanna Elizabeth Raschke, March 24, 1814. She died Sept. 2, 1849. In 1850, when seventy- seven years old, he came to this country, living with his son, Dr. Joseph Hark, at Nazareth. He had four children, two sons and two daughters.

704. John Lewis Luckenbach. xxiii, s. 5. April 27. Son of John Ludwig Luckenbach. Born in Long Swamp, Saucon Township, June 30, 1774. Moved, with his parents, to Hope, N. J., and was there baptized, as an adult, by Bishop Peter Boehler. He lived a number of years in Bethlehem, learn- ing the trade of pumpmaking from Brother Bishop. Married Maria Kornman in 1799. Later, he moved to Easton, where he lived forty years. He served in the army in the war of 1812. His married life was nearly fifty-six years. A severe attack of paralysis deprived him of his speech, lamed him and affected his mind. He had six children, of whom a son and a daughter survived.

His father died when he was only nine years old, and he then lived with his uncle, John Lawall. Married Maria Beck in 1826, and later moved to Nazareth. He was the head "diener " (sacristan) for many years.

748. Theophilus Wunderling. xxiii, s. 13. April 8. Pastor at Nazareth. Born Sept. 10, 1824, in Gnadau, where his father, Christian Frederick Wunderling, was pastor. Studied in the Paedagogium in Niesky, and the Theological Seminary in Gnadenfeld. Teacher in Kleinwelka. In 1848 he was called to the United States, as teacher in Nazareth Hall. Received a call, as pastor, to. Sharon, Ohio, Oct. 13, 1851, and married Cornelia Hoeber. Ordained as Deacon, by Bishop W. H. Van Vleck, Nov. 16. In 1853, called to Lebanon, Pa., where he served almost seven years. In 1858 the Church at Lebanon was burned, and a new one built the following year. In May, 1860, called to Nazareth, where he was the beloved pastor until his death. During his pastorate the new church was erected.

770. Philip Walter, M.D. xxiii, s. 15. Dec. 19. Born Sept. 10, 1799, in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh Co., Pa. Studied medicine with Dr. Green, in Quakertown. . Physician in Lehigh County. In 1824 came to Nazareth, after having married Rachel B. Sellers in Whitemarsh. In 1826 united with the congregation, of which he was an exemplary member. Died very sud- denly of heart disease.
771. William F. Rauch. xxiii, s. 16. Dec. 21. Born in Lititz, Oct. 24, 1822. Married Emma E. Peissert in Bethlehem. After having been in business for some time in Lebanon, Pa., moved to Nazareth in 1845. He was President of the Board of Trustees, and Postmaster. He had two sons, one of whom preceded the father into eternity.

774. John Samuel Haman. xxiii, s. 17. Feb. 18. Born Jan. 30, 1788, on the Island of Barbadoes, W.I., where his parents were missionaries. In 1794 came, with his brother Adam, to Nazareth Hall. Later was in the Brethren's House, to learn a trade. In 1808 teacher in Nazareth Hall, remaining three years. Married Sarah Schmick, June 16, 1811, and took charge of the con- gregation Hotel, where he continued twenty-five years. Then carried on business of various kinds. He had five children, two of whom preceded him to eternity.
