Married Rosina Busch, of Lititz, June 5, 1797. Of his four children, only one daughter survived. He served as organist and musical director, and as a member of the "Aufseher Col- legium," or Trustees of the Church.

555. Christian Henry Beck. xviii, s. 8. Feb. 21. Born in Bethlehem, July 17, 1757. When one and one-half years old, was placed in the Nazareth nursery at Ephrata ; later attended the school in the Hall. United with the congre- gation in 1776. Married Anna Christiana Eyerly, Sept. 26, 1790. Seven children ; two sons and five daughters, one son and a daughter preceding him into eternity. In 1800 built a house and brewery near Nazareth and carried on beer brewing and butchering. For twenty years he was a member of the " Aufseher Collegium." His wife died Nov. 21, 1833.

Confirmed by Carl Rudolph Reichel. When 25 years old, united with the Herrnhut congregation. After living eight years in Neusalz, went to America, with Brother and Sister John Gebhard Cunow, in whose family she lived until her marriage to Nicholas Hoeber, Feb. 14, 1799. She had two sons. Served in several congregations, with her husband, who died Aug. 4, 1830. She was laboress among the widows for some years.

Boston, a colored sister of Christianspring, and worked on the farm at Gnadenthal for many years. Then moved into the Ephrata building, per- forming day-laborer's work, assisting, in various ways at the Hall, pulling the bellows in the church, etc. He died in the Alms House.

561. Lewis Ferdinand Lambert. xviii, s. 10. Oct. 25. Born in Soldin, Prussia, March 6, 1781. Learned the weaver's trade. Served for a number of years in the Prussian army. Became acquainted with the Brethren in 1804. After having lived in various German congregations, he was received into the con- gregation at Gnadau. From 1810-15 he was assistant in some of the schools, and Diaspora laborer in Brunswick. Two years later he was called to Herrnhut, and then to Ebersdorf, finally to America, landing in Baltimore in 1822. Soon after he was called to Schoeneck, as pastor, and married Anna Charlotte Bechler, July 8, 1822. He had eight children ; five sons and three daughters, of whom the daughters and two sons died. After thirteen years of service in Schoeneck, he was called to Hebron, Lebanon Co., Pa. After living a short time in Bethlehem and Nazareth, he was appointed to Hope- dale, Pa., Oct., 1838. He had been ordained, Aug. 4, 1822, as Deacon by Bishop C. G. Hueffel. In 1842 retired to Nazareth.

565. Frederick Wolle. xviii, s. 11. March 7. Son of J. Frederick and Sabina (Henry) Wolle. Born in Bushkill Township, Sept. 21, 1814. In 1821 moved to Nazareth ; then to Bethlehem, where he was confirmed. Moved to New York in 1836, carrying on the tinsmith business there. The same year married Caroline Lucinda Helwig. In 1840 moved to Nazareth. He had three daughters and a son.

In her thirteenth year she lost her right hand, in an accident at a cider-mill. In 1798 moved to Nazareth, with her mother, whom she nursed until her death. Then moved into the Sisters' House. In 1831 she broke her left hand. She was a friend of little children. In 1844 she suffered from an apoplectic stroke, and Brother and Sister Francis Miksch took charge of her, nursing her faithfully until her death.

In 1803 entered the school at Lititz, and two years later united with the congregation. Married Nathaniel Miksch, Nov. 17, 1811. She had nine children ; seven sons and two daughters, of whom two sons preceded her into eternity.

In 1798 moved to Nazareth, and married Christian Clewell. She had six children ; five sons and a daughter.
589. Emmanuel Rondthaler. xx, s. I. June 6. Presbyter. Born July 27, 1764, in Zirwenz, near Lauenburg, Prussia, where his father was a Lutheran minister. Confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1788 united with the Brethren's congregation in Neusalz. In 1791 he was called to Herrnhut, where he served in various capacities. 1795-1805 Brethren's laborer in Sarepta, Russia. In 1806 came to this country. Pastor at York, Pa. 1819 to 1839 pastor in Nazareth, and member of the Provincial Board. His first wife was Catharine Wuensch, with whom he had one daughter. She died in 1808. His second wife was Maria Christina Toon. She had five sons and two daughters. One son died in childhood. Three sons, Ambrose, Emanuel and Edward, entered the ministry.

615. Johannes Maehr. xx, s. 4. Dec. II. Missionary. Born Nov. 8, 1764, in Prussia. Came to Neusalz, 1789, then to Niesky, Herrnhut and Neudietendorf. United with the Brethren's Church in 1789. In 1794 was called to Bambey, Surinam, as missionary. In 1795 he was very sick with yellow fever, and, as he appeared to have died, was already prepared for burial. In 1800, Aug. 4, married the widow Metz, m.n. Tshudy, in Paramaribo. In 1813 left Bambey, and the mission was abandoned, after he had been there more than eighteen years and his wife upwards of twelve. He continued several years in Paramaribo, then being called to Bethany, St. Jan, W. I. In 1818 to Friedensthal, St. Croix ; in 1819 to Bethany. In 1819 he came to America on furlough, on account of impaired health. His wife died at Lititz, May 21, 1821. Having received a call to the West Indies, he married Elizabeth Fahs, Sept. 2, 1821. In 1822 arrived in St. Thomas; later served in New Herrn- hut, Friedensberg, St. Croix. In 1824 returned to America on account of failing health.

He had five children, of whom two survived. In 1825 came to America. Lived in Moore township, then Filetown, and united with Schoeneck congregation. Moved to Nazareth in 1851.

When three years old, her uncle and aunt, Brother and Sister David Warner, took charge of her, living at that time in Quaker- town. In 1827 moved to Bethlehem, where she was confirmed. In conse- quence of a fever in 1830, she became lame.

649. Susan Danke, m.n. Ehrenhard. xvi, n. 18. Dec. 27. Daughter of Jacob and Susan Ehrenhard; born in Emmaus, Dec. 25, 1797. Married Franz Chr. Danke, May 26, 1819. She had one daughter, who married Richard Christ.

650. Franz Christian Danke. xx, s. 7. Jan. 26. Born June 20, 1785, in Nazareth. In 1811 married Anna Maria Ehrenhard, of Emmaus, who died May 9, 1818. Married Susan Ehrenhard, of Emmaus, May 26, 1819. One daughter. His wife had died only a month before him. Besides following his trade, he also had charge of the large granaries of the congregation to the rear of the Hall. He was a faithful and respected man.
651. Maria Christina Rondthaler, m.n. Toon. xx, n. I. Jan. 29. Born near Emmaus, June 12, 1784. Confirmed in Bethlehem, in 1801. Married the wid- ower, the Rev. Emmanuel Rondthaler, July 14, 1808. She had seven children, (two of whom died) and served, with her husband, in York, Pa., and in Nazareth twenty years. Her husband died June 6, 1847.
652. Johann Traugott Gerlach. xx, s. 8. Feb. 18. Son of Daniel and Anna Maria (Lang) Gerlach. Born Aug. 9, 1773, near Görlitz, Upper Lusatia. United with the congregation in Niesky, Aug. 13, 1787. Came to America in 1803. Lived in the Brethren's House in Lititz. He was a dyer and stock- ing weaver by trade. In 1812 came to the Brethren's House in Nazareth. Married Sarah Diely in 1814. By this marriage he had a daughter. His wife died in 1815, Dec. 15. In June, 1816, married Elizabeth Seyfried in Lititz. He had a son and a daughter by this marriage. He died very suddenly, aged 80 years.
653. Mary Elizabeth Gerlach, m.n. Seyfried, xx, n. 2. April 13. Born in Plainfield Township, Feb. 27, 1789. She lived in the Sisters' House in

1812. In 1814 to Lititz. Married John Traugott Gerlach in June, 1816. Her husband had died in February.
654. Joseph Henry Hillman. xx, s. 9. July 20. Born March 30, 1801, in Bethlehem. Confirmed in Nazareth in 1824. Married Anna Christine Beck, May 25, 1823. He had five sons and two daughters, of whom two sons died before their father. His wife died Feb. 25, 1846. Married Mary Crawford, m.n. Spangenberg. In 1847 he was Sheriff of Northampton County.
