The School Board in connection with the committee ap- pointed to act with them, in the matter of repairing Florence school buildings or building new ones were made to take any action in the matter, by reason of their failing to get any as- surance of assistance from the state. The need of more room is urgent and some action in the matter is urged. We have done everything needed to keep school property from deterior- ating, having slated one building, re-arranged the windows and seats, graded two yards, and built fences around three yards, set out trees, and shrubs, manured high school lawn, and graveled the walks. We have also installed an ash carrier at Lothrop school, re-finished and reset the seats and rehung the doors, besides minor repairs to all other buildings too numerous to mention.
We have rented the Mills schoolhouse, and the village school rooms, feeling that the property was safer while occupied than when vacant.
