Here is the Name you are Looking for

"LA JOLLA"

which is Spanish for "THE GEM," and truly no spot was ever more appropriately named.

La Jolla appears at its best when the tide is out. Then the beautiful sea-mosses and shells, for which La Jolla is so justly celebrated, can be found in great profusion among the rocks, left bare by the receding waters.

The Famous CAVES can also be entered at low tide.

These caves are among the wonders of California.

They are seven in number and are found in the solid sandstone cliffs, which rise more than a hundred feet from the beach.

There are many other natural attractions to be found at this popular resort which is reached only by the

San Diego, Pacific Beach & La Jolla RAILWAY.

3 Daily Excursion Trains run to La Jolla. The fare for the round trip.is 75c.

On Sundays and Thursdays, special excursions are run when the price is 50c. for the round trip.

PART TWO.

COUNTY DIRECTORY

In the following pages we give a brief description of every section of San Diego County together with the names of the residents, gathered from the most reliable sources within our reach. We have made every effort to get accurate information, and believe we present the most reliable directory ever published in the county,

San Diego County extends from the Pacific ocean on the West to the Arizona line on the East, and from the Mexican line on the South to Riverside county on on the North. The county is about 56 miles wide and 150 miles long and contains 8450 square miles. The Eastern portion consists of desert and mountains which are now attracting some attention as prospective field for mining men. The Western portion conists of fertile valleys and mesa lands interspersed with mountain and hill ranges.
