PUBLISHERS' NOTICE.
PUBLISHERS' NOTICE.
THE Connecticut Register again makes its New Year's appear- ance, and bespeaks the public patronage. The publishers have been at great pains and expense in making this annual full and accurate, as well as an ornamental appendage to the centre table. They believe the information contained, varied as much as prac ticable from year to year, will be useful to every intelligent fam- ily. especially in informing and enlarging the minds of children and youth. Many an otherwise idle moment may be thus usefully employed.
Among the improveinents, this Register contains
A column for High Water.
A clear and full arrangement of Calendar days.
Votes for Governor froin 1819 to 1849.
A List of Senators under the District system, from 1830 to 1849, with the number of votes, and the names and number of votes of unsuccessful candidates.
School Society Committees, and funds appropriated to Schools. Number of Births, Deaths, and Marriages.
Date when each member of Congress entered that body.
Post routes, and a reference of each post-office in the State to its particular route, with mail days.
Governors and Capitals of the several States, &c.
Literary Institutions and Scientific and Benevolent Associations were given in full last year.
It is hoped some measures will soon be taken to render it un- necessary to burden our columns with the names of so many Justices of Peace, &c., and thus afford room for a greater variety of matter.
We tender thanks to those who made prompt and accurate returns for the Register of 1850, and to such we shall generally send blanks for the Register for 1851. We wish to secure the services of some faithful and accurate man in eacli town to make annual returns. to whom we offer a Register as compensation. The names of such may be sent to the publishers, and they will be furnished with blanks.
Persons entitled to a Register for 1850, who do not receive it, will please send us word.
