CORNELL'S GLOBE.
THIS beautiful little Globe has received the sanction and re- commendation of almost every teacher or friend of education who has examined it. Summer and winter, day and night, inclination and declination, latitude, longitude, meridians, zones, sunrise and sunset, length of days and nights, &c. &c., are all beautifully explained, with this simple instrument. No school should be without this Globe ; and as the price is so low, no dis- trict can say they CANNOT AFFORD IT, and no district should re- fuse to place it where the children may be enlightened, as they cannot be by a mere description from the best teacher.
Price only $3,00. For sale by BROWN & PARSONS.

HARTFORD : PUBLISHED BY BROWN AND PARSONS, CORNER OF MAIN AND ASYLUM STS.
TO THE PUBLIC.
THE CONNECTICUT REGISTER again makes its New Year's ap- pearance, and bespeaks the public patronage. We have been at great pains and expense in making this annual full and accurate, as well as an ornamental appendage to the center-table. We be- lieve the information contained, varied as much as practicable from year to year, will be useful to every intelligent family, espe- cially in informing and enlarging the minds of children and youth. Many an otherwise idle moment may be thus usefully employed.
The official returns of the population of the towns of the State which we expected to give in this Register, have not been pub- lished at Washington. They will appear next year. Statistics of Town Expenses are given, which exhibit the fact that the larger part of our public expenses, besides Roads and Bridges, are the results of intemperance, in the forms of pauperisin, criminal prosecutions, &c.
The number of Jurors in the several towns was newly ap- portioned by the last Legislature ; and as the number of Justices of Peace is the sanie as that of Jurors, the number is given in connection with the Justices.
Some part of the Register goes to press by Nov. 15, conse- quently some returns came too late. When meetings are held after 1st Monday of Nov., two returns should be made. The towns are as much interested as we are, in having the Register complete, and when they find it not so, they can know where the fault lies. In every such instance we sent blanks to both Post master and Town Clerk.
We tender thanks to those who made prompt and accurate returns for the Register of 1852, and to such we shall generally send blanks for the Register for 1853. We wish to secure the services of some faithful and accurate man in each town to make annual returns, to whom we offer a Register as compensation. The names of such may be sent to us, and they will be furnished with blanks.
Persons entitled to a Register for 1852, who wish for it but do not receive it, will please send us word, and it will be forwarded as they direct. We do not send unless such directions are given.
If any errors appear, particularly on the Calendar pages, we shall be much obliged to have them pointed out to us.
