BOUNDARIES AND SBALS.
AN ORDINANCE describing the Seals, and Wards, and Boundaries of the City.
1 SECTION 1. Be it ordained by the City Council of Des Moines, That the boundaries of the city shall be as fixed by a law of the state of Iowa approved January 28th, A. D. 1857, and the authority and jurisdiction of ordinances, and of city oficers shall be co-extensive therewith in all dases, and in special cases, to such extent, as may be provided by the general laws of the State.
SEC. 2. | That the seal provided for said city, the City real estab. impression on which is a representation of the State House lished. in Des Moines, with two trees, one at each end of the building, with the inscription, "Seal of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, " around the outer edge of said seal, shall be - and the same is hereby established and declared to be the seal of the city of Des Moines.
SEC. 3. The seal of the City Clerk shall have the words, Clerk's sal. "The Clerk of the City of Des Moines, Lowe," around the buter edge, and the word " Seal " in the center thereof.
SEC. 4. AN ORDINANCE to provide for the Election of City Deicors and dinning
their Duties.
SECTION 1. Be it ordained by the City Council of the Meetings of City of Des Moines, That the regular meetings of the City council. Council shall be on the first Monday of each month, except

in the month of March of each year the regular meeting shall be held on the second Monday of that month, at nine o'clock A. M. Adjourned and special meetings may be held at such times and places as the Council may direct.
SEC. 2. At the first regular meeting after each annual election of city officers, or so soon thereafter as is practicable, the City Council ishall appoint a City Clerk. Engineer, and one Street Commissioner, who shall each hold his office for one year, and until his successor is elected and qualified.

The said judges shall make their returns as prescribed by law, and the ballots shall be strung as counted, replaced in the ballot box, and delivered to the City Clerk, who shall preserve them for three months, and longer, if the election of any officer be contested and not previously determined.

SEC. 6. The election of any city officer may be contested by any elector of the city, and the proceedings shall be in accordance with the general laws of the State, regulating the mode of contesting the election of county officers, so far : as the same may be applicable : provided, the City Council Before whom. shall be the tribunal before which such contests shall be had, whose decision shall be final.
