GRADING OF STREETS AND CONSTRUCTION OF LEVEE. 7.

Company shall fail to comply with the requirements of this ofpenance, or to have it's railroad from Des Moines to Ames. completed and in operation by the first day of December, 1869 said bonds shall be absolutely null and void, as the obligation of the City of Des Moines, in the hands of saill Tristee, the said Railroad-Company or any jother person and all power to issue or deliver said bonds or interest coupons under or by virtud of the provisions of this ordinance shall dease on shid dny if the work herein provided for shall noi have been then completed, and said railroad finished and in operation between the points above mentioned.

AN ORDINANCE ( ranting the Right of Way to the Des Moines Valley Rail- road Company ofer and across Market Street and other Streets and Alleya through the Cityof Des Moines, and the Right to Bridge the Des Moines River on said Market Street.

Moines, That the right-off way be and the same is hereby granted to the Des Moines Valley Railroad-Company through the city of Des Moines over and across Market street, and such other streets and alleys east and west of Market street as may be necessary to run through the city, with the right to lay down a double or single track, with side-tracks, turn- Tracks, switch- outs, and switchs on the same, and to run such locomotives and trains of cats over the same as may be necessar Hin the operation of said road, and at such reasonable rates of'speed as may from time to time be fixed by the said City Council of Des Not exclusive. AN ORDINANCE lo Regulate the Running and Operation of Locomotives and Trains of Cars.


SECTION 1. SBc. 5. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be subject to a fine not exceeding wenty dollars for each offense. 'And any person, company or corporations failing to comply with or violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall forfeit the sum of twenty dollars to the city |for any such failure or violation, and be' liable for all damages that may accrue to any person thereby. SECTION 1. SECTION 1. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City Funds. of Des Moines That hereafter there shall be but three Fundis known in the financial accounts of the Treasurer, and they shall be the General Fund, Road Lund, and the Cemetery Fund.

All money accruing from the sale of lots in the Cemeteries of the city shall be known as the Cemetery Fund. All money received into the Treasury except from the sources above specified, shall be accounted as a part of the General Fund, and all orders drawn for other than the purposes above specified, shall be drawo upon the General Fund.

AS ORDINANCE to Provide for the Appointment, Discipline and Compen- sation, and Defining the Duties of a City Police Force.

But it ordained by the City Council of the City of Des Moines, That the police force of the city of Des Moines shall consist of the City Marshal, boe Deputy ; Marshal to be appointed by the Marshal, and for whole acts - the City Marshal shall be responsible, and such policemen and watchmen: as shall from time to time be provided By the Council or other lawful authority.
