Chicago Historical Society. Their collections, it is expected, will be removed this summer to their new building on the north side of Ontario, between North Clark and North Dearborn streets, an edifice of brick and stone fire- proof, forty-two by eighty-nine feet, of the height of three stories, forming one wing of the main building, and containing a very spacious, library hall, with lecture and secretary's rooms, and an extensive basement story for a bindery, &c.

Firemen's Benevolent Association. The members of the paid fire department in this city, recently organ- ized a benevolent association for the purpose of pro- vidiag a fund out of which they can render assistance to those who may be taken ill or be disabled. Every member when sick, is entitled to receive eight dollars per week until his recovery, and an effective system of visiting is provided, so that none may suffer. The object of the association is most humane, and its members justly deserve to be aided and sustained in the movement. The association is organized as follows : Frank Agnew, president; M. W.
