Dispensaries.


Charity Dispensary, at Rush Medical College. This is a public institution for the gratuitous treatment of the sick poor. Patients are prescribed for without charge, and when unable to come to the dispensary are visited at their homes. It is open every day from 8 to 4 p. m., at Rush Medical College, southeast corner Dearborn and Indiana streets; attended by the faculty of Rush College, daily.


Chicago Charitable Eye and Ear Infirmary. The Dis- pensary of this Infirmary, 16 East Pearson street, opposite the Ogden school, is open daily from 2 to 8 p. m., for the gratuitous treatment of the poor, afflicted with diseases of the eye and ear. Geo. Davenport, superintendent.


Hahnemann College Dispensary, chartered in 1855. Open for the medical and surgical treatment of the slck poor of the city, each day, except Sundays, throughout the year. Asylums.


Catholic Asylum for Boys. Incorporated, 1863. Situated in Bridgeport, under the charge of the Christian Brothers. E. J. Kennedy, superintendent. 110 orphans and destitute boys.


Magdalen Asylum, conducted by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, North Market, southwest corner Elm street.


Nursery and Half-Orphan Asylum. Among the most worthy and successful, yet unpretentious, of our public charities, is the Nursery and Half-Orphan Asylum, located on the corner of Wells and Wiscon- sin streets, under the management of a num- ber of christian ladies. There are now in the asylum sixty five children. and among these are a large number of the children of soldiers, who are kept and cared for kindly, receiving the benefit of a home. The asylum is under the inunediste manage- ment of a competent niatron. The children have the benefits of a day school; Miss Williams, a graduate of the high school, being the teacher. An Industrial school for girls, in which they are taught to sew, knit, &c., is under the management of Mrs. E. K. Hubbard, and the Sunday school is managed by Mr. Bruce. At a meeting of the lady wanagers of the asylum, the following officers and directors were elected : Mrs. Samuel Iloard, president; Mrs. S. O.
