(Editorial Notice.)

The large establishment in this city, known as the "Coan & Ten Broeke Carriage Manufacturing Company," takes high rank, and justly so, among the manufacturing institutions of the West. The busy hum of industry which pervades the establishment throughout, is music to the ears of every lover of industry, and the completeness of its surroundings is a theme of general admiration throughout the city. The street cars which are manufactured here are unequalled for beauty, excellence and durability ; and their express wagons, and family carriages, and top and open buggies cannot be excelled in any of the great manufacturing establishments of the east. It is now a chartered institution, presided over by Douglas W. Coan, and Charles O. Ten Broeke is the efficient secretary. Under the auspices of these gentlemen, and the stockholders, who all take a deep interest in everything that pertains to its workings, it will certainly increase its usefulness, and become one of the leading manufacturing companies of the Union. The time was when it was necessaryfor our citizens to send East for articles in this line of business. But this time has gone by, and now Chicago competes success- fully with any city in the world in her manufacturing institutions. Success to the Coan & Ten Broeke Carriage Manufacturing Co.

The Gold Medal was awarded to the above Table at the Michigan State Fairs of 1860 and 1861.

These Tables are unequaled in regard to finish, durability, quickness of cush- ions, and for many important improvements not to be found on any other Table. Our new Patent Cushions, which were introduced to the billiard playing public in 1866, at once attracted the attention of the best judges, and were pronounced by them to be the quickest and most reliable cushions yet invented, combining power and correct- ness, unequaled by any other cushion in use.

In the manufacture of our Tables we use the very best and thoroughly seasoned lum- ber, and none but the very best material and fixtures, making them
