GREGG TOWNSHIP.
GREGG TOWNSHIP is located about the center of the county, west of White river, and contains about twenty-six square miles. It is bounded on the north by Monroe township, on the east by Clay, on the south by Jefferson and Ashland, and on the west by Adams. The surface of this township is somewhat broken, especially on the south; it is well watered by small streams, which flow through the township and afford never failing water. The soil of this township is generally productive. Hall, a small village situated in the northeast part of the township, is well furnished with gentlemanly merchants and mechanics who are clever and affable; churches and school houses show to the traveler that they are not behind in church and school privileges. There are also two other villages, viz: Wilber and Herbemont, which supply the citizens with all kinds of mer- chandise. There is also a post office in each one of these villages.
