RECORD OF TOWN MEETINGS
ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Monday, January 17, 1927, and adjournment to Wednesday, March 23, 1927.
On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen, under date of January 4, 1927, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, Eu- gene Endicott, Harold W. Baker and Arthur W. Forrest, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which Warrant was duly attested by J. Irving Reid, Constable of Norwood.
All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-Laws relating to elections and Town Meetings having been complied with, the meet- ing was called to order, the articles contained in the Warrant and the action thereunder being as follows:
Article 1. To choose all necessary Town Officers. The following are to be chosen by ballot; namely, two Selectmen for three years (who shall be overseers of the poor and surveyors of highways) ; one Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for one year; one Finance Commissioner for three years; one Finance Commissioner for one year (to fill vacancy) ; one Moderator for one year; one Member of the Board of Health for three years; two members of the School Committee for three years; two Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; two members of the Planning Board for three years; six Constables for one year; and also upon the same ballot to vote upon the following question: "Shall Section 15 of Chapter 45 of the General Laws, requiring certain towns to provide public playgrounds, be accepted by this Town?"

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING March 23, 1927.
On a Warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated March 10, 1927, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, Arthur J. Forrest and Harold W. Baker, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which Warrant was duly accepted by J. Irving Reid, Con- stable of the Town of Norwood.
All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-Laws relating to Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, James A. Halloran, the Articles contained in this Warrant and the action taken thereunder being as follows:
Article 1. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to reimburse the Water Department of the Town of Norwood for hydrant service for fire protection.
Voted: By taxation the sum of $7,500.00.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as a public way a new way as laid out by the Selectmen northwesterly from Nichols Street Extension and raise and appropriate a sum of money sufficient to meet the estimated expense of laying out and constructing said new way or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $3,285.00.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as a public way a new way as laid out by the Selectmen running south- erly from Bellevue Avenue, and raise and appropriate a sum of money sufficient to meet the estimated expense of laying out and constructing said new way, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: Voted to accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $2,675.00.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote and allow as a public way a new way to be known as an Extension of Bond Street as laid out by the Selectmen and raise and appropriate a sum of money suffi- cient to meet the estimated expense of laying out and constructing said new way, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $1,400.00.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as public ways an Extension of Rosemary Street and an Extension of Chickering Road and an unnamed Street to connect said extension of Rosemary Street with said Extension of Chickering Road or any of them as laid out by the Selectmen, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow as public ways.
Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to accept an alteration by widening of a portion of Neponset Street and a portion of Dean Street as made, laid out and reported by the Selectmen and raise

and appropriate a sum of money to meet the estimated expense of the same, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $800.00.
Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to accept an alteration by widening of a portion of Railroad Avenue and a portion of Monroe Street as made, laid out and reported by the Selectmen and raise and appropriate a sum of money to meet the estimated expense of the same, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $960.00.
Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to accept an alteration by widening of a portion of Prospect Street and a portion of Prospect Avenue as made, laid out and reported by the Selectmen and raise and appropriate a sum of money to meet the estimated expense of the same, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $390.00.
Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to accept an alteration by widening of a portion of Nichols Street and a portion of Prospect Avenue as made, laid out and reported by the Selectmen and raise and appropriate a sum of money to meet the estimated expense of the same, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow and by taxation the sum of $785.00.
Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a Committee to study the business of the Norwood Gas Company, particularly with respect to methods, rates and other factors which relate to the manufacture, distribution, cost and proper sales price past, present and future of its gas product, and to report with recommendations to a future town meeting, or take any other action in the matter. (On request of Finance Commission.)
Voted: That a Committee of five to be appointed by the Moderator be and hereby is appointed to study the business of the Norwood Gas Company, particularly with respect to methods, rates and other factors which relate to the manufacture, distribution, cost and proper sales price past, present and future of its gas product, and to report with recommendations at a future town meeting.
Article 11. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library to expend a sum not in excess of $1,000.00 from the accumulative income of the Alice H. Plimpton Fund for the purpose of securing plans for a proposed addition to the Morrill Memorial Library, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To so authorize.
Article 12. To see what Municipal Board or Officers the Town will authorize the powers conferred by Section 14 of Chapter 45 of the General Laws respecting public playground activities and what sum of money the Town will vote to appropriate for public playground purposes, or take any other action in said matter.

Voted: That the Selectmen as Park Commissioner be authorized to exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred and imposed by Section 14, Chapter 45 of the General Laws.
Article 13. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to purchase or take by eminent domain the following described parcel of land for use for school purposes and appropriate a sum of money for such purpose, or take any other action in the matter; namely, a parcel of land owned by Fred L. Fisher and located on Pleasant Street.
Voted: To so authorize and by taxation the sum of $3,000.00 for said purpose.
Article 14. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to purchase or take by eminent domain the following described parcel of land for use for park purposes and appropriate a sum of money for such purpose, or take any other action in the matter; namely, a parcel of land owned by Stanislovas Seveniautskas and located on a proposed street sometimes known as River Street.
Voted: To so authorize and appropriate the sum of $800.00 by taxation.
Voted: That this meeting be now dissolved.
