RECORD OF TOWN MEETINGS


ANNUAL TOWN MEETING


Monday, January 17, 1928, and adjournment to Wednesday, March 28, 1928.


On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen, under date of January 3, 1928, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, Arthur J. Forrest and Harold W. Baker, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which Warrant was duly attested by William J. Barrett, Constable of Norwood. :


All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-Laws relating to elections and Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order, the articles contained in the Warrant and the action thereunder being as follows:


Article 1. To choose all necessary Town Officers. The following are to be chosen by ballot; namely, one Selectman for three years and one Selectman for two years (who shall be overseers of the poor and surveyors of highways); one Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for one year; one Finance Commissioner for three years; one Moderator for one year; one Member of the Board of Health for three years; two Members of the School Committee for three years; two Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; one Member of the Planning Board for three years ;. six Constables for one year.


One Selectman for three years.


Thomas B. Mulvehill had seventeen hundred and eighty-five (1785) elected, sworn by Town Clerk and Accountant. -

Voted: That Article 2 be laid on the table.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Collector of Taxes to use the same means as a Town Treasurer may use when acting as Collector.


Voted: To so authorize the Treasurer.


Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer and Collector of Taxes, with the approval of the Selectmen to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year.


Voted: To so authorize the Treasurer.


Article 5. To see what disposition the Town will make of money re- ceived for dog licenses.


Voted: That this article be laid upon the table and taken up and acted upon with Article 6, Sub-division D, Section 6.


Article 6. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the current fiscal year, for the following pur- poses, or take any other action in the matter.


A. General Government.


1. Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, and Surveyors of Highways. (a) Salaries and (b) Incidentals.


Voted: (a) That the Selectmen receive no salaries. (b) By taxation for incidental and personal expenses of the Selectmen the sum of $100.00.

2. (1) Town Clerk and Accountant and (2) Town Bookkeeper. (a) Sal- aries and (b) Incidentals.


Voted: For salaries $4,250.00 and (b) for incidentals the sum of $11,000.


3. Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes. (a) Salaries. (b) Inci- cidentals.


Voted: (a) For salaries, $2,750.00, and (b) for incidentals the sum of $3,718.00.


4. Assessors (a) Salaries and (b) Incidentals.


Voted: By taxation for salaries, $2,000.00 and incidental expenses $2,800.00.


5. Certification of Bonds and Notes.


Voted: By taxation the sum of $300.00.


6. Finance Commission. (a) Incidentals.


Voted: By taxation the sum of $400.00.


7. Law. (a) Salary and (b) Incidentals.


Voted: By taxation (a) for salary, $1750.00 and (b) for incidental ex- penses, $350.00.
