Article 15. To see what sum of money the Town will raise and ap- propriate to meet the expense of the care and maintenance of the Norfolk County Hospital as apportioned by the County Commissioners of the County of Norfolk.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


August 2, 1929


On a Warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated July 24, 1929, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, Arthur J. Forrest, Harold W. Baker and Herbert H. Miller, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which Warrant was duly attested by Nicholas P. Curran, Constable of Norwood.


All of the requirements of the Statues and By-Laws relating to Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator James A. Halloran, the articles contained in this Warrant and the action thereunder being as follows:


Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to direct the Selectmen to petition the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for an annual audit of the Town's accounts.


Voted: To so direct the Selectmen.


Article 2. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation and appropriate to meet the cost of the construction of a garage building for housing motor vehicles owned by the Town, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: By taxation the sum of $2,300.00.


Article 3. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation and appropriate for the expense of removal of snow and ice; said sum to be in addition to sums heretofore appropriated for said purposes, or take any action on the matter.

Voted: To accept as town ways the foregoing alterations by widenings and to appropriate the sum of $612.09 to meet the expense of the payment of land damages, said amount to be taken from the amount appropriated in the Annual Town Meeting of February 25, 1929 for highway construction.


Article 7. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate by taxation in addition to the sum heretofore appropriated for repairs of highways.


Voted: That action under this Article be indefinitely postponed.


Article 8. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise by taxation and appropriate to meet the payments of certain bills contracted in the year 1928, in the following departments and accounts:


General Government Incidentals, Town Clerk and Accountant Inci- dentals, General Manager Incidentals, Engineering Incidentals, Care of Trees, Election and Registration Incidentals, Treasurer and Collector Incidentals, Maintenance of Municipal Building Incidentals, Inspector of Buildings Incidentals, Police Department Incidentals, Fire Department

Article 9. To see what sum the Town will vote to raise and appropriate in addition to sums heretofore appropriated to meet the expense of the purchase of equipment for the Assessing Department.

Article 10. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to appropriate for the purchase of certain new equipment in the office of the Town Clerk and Accountant.

To see if the Town will vote to accept and receive from the local Camp Fire Girls' organization a gift in the form of a sum of money; subject to the condition that said sum be expended in the improvement and embellishment of Memorial Park, in accordance with such plans as may be determined by the Selectmen.


Voted: To accept the gift of $500.00 in accordance with the terms of the local'Camp Fire Girls' organization.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


October 17, 1929


On a Warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated October 8, 1929, and signed by Thomas B. Mulvehill, Edmund G. Dalton, Harold W. Baker, Arthur J. Forrest and Herbert H. Miller, Selectmen of Norwood, the

proper service of which Warrant was duly attested by Thomas C. Lydon, Constable of Norwood.


All of the requirements of the Statues and By-Laws relating to Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, James A. Halloran, the articles contained in this Warrant and the action thereunder being as follows:


Article 5. To see what sum or sums of money the Town will vote to ap- propriate and borrow and appropriate to construct an addition to the Junior High School Building and to purchase original equipment and furnishings therefore, the same to be in addition to the sum of money heretofore appropriated for said purposes, and to be expended by the existing Junior High School Building Addition Committee appointed under the authority given by action taken at the special Town Meeting held June 15, 1928, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: That the sum of $6,861.00 in the treasury, received by the town in settlement of the loss sustained by fire with respect to contents at the Guild School building, and the further sum of $8,139.00 in the treasury, received by the town in settlement of the loss sustained by fire with respect to the Guild School building, making a total of $15,000.00 available and in the treasury.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to demolish the existing Guild School building and to appropriate a sum of money to be expended for said purpose or to take any other action relative thereto.


Voted: To so authorize the Selectmen and to appropriate from monies in the Treasury, received on account of the fire loss at said Guild School and available for the purpose, the sum of $600.00, to meet the cxpense involved.


Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to sell the parcel of land fronting on Guild Street known as the Guild School property, following the removal of the existing building thereon, the same being no longer required for public school purposes, and to convey said parcel of land by appropriate deed and to specify the minimum amount to be paid for such conveyance and to further vote to make such con- veyance upon such other terms as the Selectmen shall consider proper, or to take any other action relative thereto.


Voted: That action under this Article be indefinitely postponed.


Article 1. To see if the Town will approve the selection of the land owned by the Town and fronting on Pleasant Street being the Fisher lot, so-called, as the site for the erection of a school building on the easterly side of the Town, appropriate for elementary school purposes. (Request of School Committee.)


Voted: To so approve the selection.

To see if the Town will vote to construct a school building appropriate for elementary school purposes on land owned by the Town and fronting on Pleasant Street and to purchase original equipment and furnishings therefor and to borrow and appropriate sums of money for said purposes and to appoint a committee to determine the location of said school building on said land and to expend said sums of money for said purposes or to take any other action relative thereto. (Request of School Committee.)


Voted: From funds in the treasury $51,000.00 and $59,000.00 on notes of the Town, and that the Committee of Five, appointed by the Moderator, determine the location of said school building on said land, and to expend said sum for said purposes.
