RECORDS OF TOWN MEETINGS AND ELECTIONS DURING THE YEAR 1935
TOWN WARRANT
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Middlesex, ss.
To the Constables of the Town of Arlington, in said County :
Greeting:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the legal voters of the Town of Arlington, to meet in the Town Hall in said Town on Monday, the 4th day of February, 1935, at 8.00 o'clock, P.M., to act on the following Articles, viz:
Article 1. To hear and act upon the reports of the Finance and other committees heretofore appointed.
Article 2. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation to defray the necessary engineering and trucking expenses and to purchase tools, equipment and materials to carry on certain public works and improvements in connection with Federal Emergency Relief Administra- tion projects; determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended; or take any action relating thereto.
Article 3. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) or any other sum, to be expended under the direction of the Board of Select-

men, on Town work for the employment of the poor; de- termine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended; or take any action relating thereto.
And you will notify and warn the voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the time and place herein speci- fied by leaving at every dwelling house in the Town a printed copy of this warrant, and also by posting a copy of the same at the doors of the Town Hall, and in a con- spicuous place in each of the fourteen precincts of the Town, seven days at least prior to the time of said meet- ing.
Hereof, fail not, and make due return of this War- rant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, on or before said day and hour of meeting.
Given under our hands, at said Arlington, this twen- ty-first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thou- sand, nine hundred and thirty-five.

CONSTABLE'S RETURN
Arlington, Mass., Jan. 28, 1935
Middlesex County :
By virtue of this warrant I have notified and warned the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the time and place and for the purposes herein named by causing a printed attested copy of the same to be left at every dwelling house in the Town, and by posting an attested copy at the doors of the Town Hall seven days at least before said day of meeting and by posting attested copies in two or more conspicuous places in each voting precinct in the Town. A notice of the time, place and objects of the meeting was published in the local papers.

SPECIAL MEETING
Arlington, Mass., February 4, 1935.
Pursuant to the Warrant of the Selectmen served ac- cording to law upon the inhabitants of the Town of Arling- ton, by a Constable of the said Town and sent by mail by the Town Clerk seven days before the day of the meet- ing to the Town Meeting Members duly elected and quali- fied to act in Town Meetings in Arlington, the Town Meeting Members met at the Robbins Memorial Town Hall in said Town on Monday evening, February 4, 1935.

Lists of the duly qualified Town Meeting Members were used at the entrances of the meeting place and were in charge of Philip T. Robinson and James E. Sweeney.
The check lists filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting showed that one hundred and thirty-one Town Meeting Members attended the meeting.
James C. Carr, stenographer, was sworn by the Town Clerk to impartially and correctly report the proceedings of the meeting to the best of his ability.
The Moderator called the meeting to order at 8:11 o'clock P.M. ruling a quorum present.
The Moderator asked if there were any Town Meet- ing Members present who had not already been sworn. As no one arose the Moderator called the Meeting to order.
The Clerk read the call and the Constable's Return of the Warrant, the reading of the remainder of the War- rant being waived by the unanimous consent of the meet- ing.
On motion of Leonard Collins:
Voted: (Unanimously) That if all the business of the meeting as set forth in the Warrant is not disposed of on this date the meeting adjourn to Monday evening Feb- ruary 11, 1935 at eight o'clock.
On motion of Leonard Collins :
Voted: That Article 1 be taken up.

Article 2. To choose and appoint all other usual Town officers not hereinbefore mentioned, in such manner as the Town may determine.

To hear and act on the reports of the per- manent committee under vote of the Town passed March 24, 1919 on the Town Yard; of the committee under vote of the Town passed April 5, 1926 to investigate and con- sider the matter of additional school accommodations; of the committee under vote of the Town passed April 14, 1927 to make a comprehensive study of a community or other building as a memorial to commemorate the services and sacrifices of persons who served in the World War; of the committee under vote of the Town passed April 2, 1930 to secure plans and estimates for the construction of an elementary school on Pheasant Avenue; of the com- mittee under vote of the Town passed May 26, 1930 to investigate and study the Public Library accommodations at the Heights; of the committee under vote of the Town

passed June 21, 1932 to investigate and report on the ad- visability of acquiring a suitable playground or park for small children in the easterly section of the Town; and of other Town boards and officers and of the Finance and other committees heretofore appointed.
Article 4. To make appropriations to defray Town obligations, liabilities, outlay and expenses and especially for or relating to all or any of the boards, departments, purposes and matters hereinafter mentioned; determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended; or take any action relating thereto.

Article 5. To see if the town will vote to authorize the town treasurer, with the approval of the selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1936, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws.
Article 6. To see if the Town will authorize its Col- lector of Taxes to use all means of collecting taxes for the year 1935 which a Town Treasurer may use when ap- pointed a Collector of Taxes.
Article 7. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the extension of water mains, determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended, or take any action relating thereto.
Article 8. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the extending or relaying of water mains in Gray Street, determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended, or take any action relating thereto.
Article 9. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the extension of the sewerage system, deter- mine in what manner the money shall be raised and ex- pended, or take any action relating thereto.
Article 10. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the extension of storm drains, determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended, or take any action relating thereto.
Article 11. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the widening and improving of Mill Brook for storm drain purposes, determine in what manner the

Article 12. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the purchase of additional snow removal equip- ment, determine in what manner the money shall be raised and expended, or take any action relating thereto.

Article 13. To see if the Town will make an appro- priation for the construction of permanent sidewalks and for the installing of edgestones; determine in what man- ner the money shall be raised; or take any action relating thereto.
Article 14. To see if the Town will accept the laying out of a town way from Herbert Road to Brooks Avenue, substantially in the location of the private way known as Chandler Street, as made and reported by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of bet- terments; establish said way; make an appropriation for said laying out and the construction of said way; deter- mine in what manner the money shall be raised; or take any action relating thereto.
Said way as so laid out is bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at the point of curve on the westerly side line of Herbert Road at the southerly side line of Chandler Street, thence northwesterly on said southerly side line on a curve to the left with a radius of 25 feet, a distance of 41.23 feet to the point of tangency in the southerly side line of Chandler Street, thence southwesterly on said southerly side line of Chandler Street, a distance of 464.35 feet to the point of curve in said southerly side line of Chandler Street, thence southwesterly and south-
