TOWN RECORDS
The ballots were counted by the election officers and encased in boxes, which were sealed, and the same were delivered by direction of the Town Clerk to the Police Station where they were to be placed under police guard until after the expiration of the time within which a peti- tion for recount might be filed.
As the Senatorship in this district has not been de- cided upon in the Senate, following the petition of Charles C. Warren, it seemed best not to in any way disturb the boxes which contained the State Election ballots.
The City of Somerville very kindly helped us out in this emergency and loaned us fourteen precinct boxes.
The returns from each precinct were turned over to the Town Clerk and with the assistance of the Registrars of Voters were canvassed and the result announced.
