DENSITY OF POPULATION.


In the state of Massachusetts there are 269 people to every square mile of area: in Rhode Island the number rises to 276, and this state has the first place in this particular. In Texas the number is nine per square mile. Some Euro- pean countries are higher still, as England, which has 500 people to every square mile, and Belgium, which is the closest packed portion of Christendom, has 530 inhabitants on every one of her 11,373 square miles of area,
