Voted unanimously to appropriate and assess the sum of $300.00 for gymnasium equipment, to be expended under the direction of the School Committee.


Article 19. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and assess the sum of $400 to collect garbage in Precinct 2, or do or act.

Article 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money for the improvement of Concord. Road; said money to be used in conjunction with any money which may be allotted by the State or County, or both, for this purpose ; or take any action in relation thereto.


Voted unanimously that the Town appropriate and assess the sum of $6,000.00 to be expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen for the purpose of relocating and recon- structing a portion of Concord Road according to plans to be recommended by the County Engineers, said sum to be ex- pended in cooperation with the Commonwealth of Massachu- setts and the County of Middlesex in accordance with the pro- visions of the General Laws.


Article 21. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money to be used in connection with W. P. A. pro- jects, or do or act.


Voted unanimously that $20,000.00 be appropriated and assessed to provide for materials, trucking and other necessary expenses on the part of the Town in connection with work pro- jects where labor is provided by the Federal government under W. P. A. or a similar agency. Such projects to include the fol- lowing with the amounts of money designated therefor :


Graveling Glezen Road $2,965.00


Grading and work around new High School 750.00


Said $20,000.00 to be administered by the Selectmen for the projects specified in this motion and for all other projects voted under other articles in the warrant calling for labor, except Article 20. The Selectmen to have full discretion as to projects for the disposition of any balance of said money.


Article 22. To see if the Town will vote to purchase a

truck for the Water Department, and to appropriate and assess or otherwise provide a sum of money to pay for the same, or do or act.


Voted that the Water Commissioners be and they hereby are authorized to purchase a truck for the Water Department and that the sum of $880.00 be appropriated and assessed.


Article 23. To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners with the approval of the Selectmen, to sell, trade, or otherwise dispose of the Chevrolet truck, or do or act.


Voted that the Water Commissioners be authorized to sell, trade or otherwise dispose of the Chevrolet truck now in use.


Article 24. To see if the Town will vote to lay a cast iron main from the existing main to connect with the Town of Framingham water supply, and install the necessary valves and appurtenances in connection therewith, and appropriate and assess a sum of money therefor, or do or act.


Voted that the Water Commissioners be and they hereby are authorized to extend a six inch cast iron main from exist- ing six inch main at Spencer Richardson square to the Fram- ingham line a distance of substantially 200 feet and that the sum of $190.00 be taken from money appropriated under Article 21 for the purpose of providing the necessary pipe and other materials and the labor to be provided from Federal funds.


Article 25. To see if the Town will vote to lay a six-inch water main on Ridgefield Road, replacing four-inch main now in use, and install the necessary valves, hydrants, and appur- tenances in connection therewith, and appropriate and assess a sum of money therefor, or do or act.

Article 26. To see if the Town will vote to replace the two-inch water main on Edgewood Road with six-inch cast iron pipe and install the necessary valves, hydrants, and appurten- ances in connection herewith, and appropriate and assess a sum of money therefor, or do or act.

Article 28. To see if the Town will vote to replace the four-inch water main on Castle Gate Road with six-inch iron pipe and install the necessary valves, hydrants, and appurten- ances in connection therewith and appropriate and assess a sum of money therefor, or do or act.

Voted unanimously that the Water Commissioners be and they hereby are authorized to replace the four inch wooden pipe now in existance on Castle Gate Road with a six inch cast iron pipe a distance of approximately 600 feet and that the sum of $600.00 be taken from money appropriated under Article 21 for the purpose of providing the necessary pipe and other materials and the labor to be provided from Federal funds.


Article 29. To see if the Town will vote to replace the two-inch water main on Lake Road with six-inch iron pipe and install the necessary valves, hydrants, and appurtenances in con- nection therewith, and to appropriate a sum of money therefor, or do or act.

Article 34. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of installing a water main in Hawthorne Road from Old Connecticut Path to Beech Street.

Article 35. To see if the Town will vote to extend a water main with necessary hydrants, gates and fittings, from Commonwealth Road along Oak Street 1,400 feet and along Valley View Road 550 feet, to the residence of G. Doherty, K. Muhlberg, F. Black, W. Pazolt, E. Therburn, and C. Harrison.


Voted unanimously that the Town appropriate and assess the sum of $1,800.00 to install a six inch water main with all necessary hydrants, valves and fittings along Oak Street, 1,400 feet to the residence of W. Pazolt and along Valley View Road 550 feet to the residence of D. Harriman. Labor to come from Federal funds and said $1,800.00 to be taken from the appro- priation made available by Article 21.


Article 36. To see if the Town will vote to extend a six- inch water main with fire hydrants, gates, and fittings along

Rice Road from Commonwealth Road to the residence of B. Y. Yanson, a distance of 2,800 feet, at a cost of $8,236.80, or do or act.

Article 37. To see if the Town will vote to accept as Town ways Pine Ridge Road, Pine Ridge Road Extension, and a por- tion of Lake Path to the intersection of Hemlock Road, or any portion thereof, all situated within or adjacent to Woodland Park Development, as laid out and filed by the Board of Select- men, substantially in accordance with plans prepared under the direction of the Planning Board by E. Worthington, C. E., dated August 9, 1935, and on file with the Town Clerk ; work to be done under the Betterment Act, and authorize the Selectmen to acquire any necessary land by eminent domain, purchase or otherwise ; appropriate a sum of money for acquiring such land and for building said ways, or do or act.


Voted not to accept any roads as Town ways under Article 37.

Article 38. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a Town way Sycamore Road for a distance of approximately 750 feet beginning at Old Connecticut Path, or any portion thereof, all situated in Castle Gate North as laid out and filed by the Board of Selectmen, substantially in accordance with plans pre- pared under the direction of the Planning Board by E. Worth- ington, C. E., dated January 30 and amended December 16, 1935, and on file with the Town Clerk; work to be done under the Betterment Act and authorize the Selectmen to acquire any necessary land by eminent domain, purchase or otherwise and appropriate a sum of money for acquiring such land and for building said way, or do or act.


Voted to pass over the Article.


Article 39. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a Town way Hemlock Road starting at the intersection of Lake Path and Lake Shore Drive and running to the intersection of Sycamore Road or any portion thereof, as laid out and filed by the Board of Selectmen, in accordance with plans prepared under the direction of the Planning Board by E. Worthington, C. E., dated August 6, 1935, and on file with the Town Clerk ; work to be done under the Betterment Act and authorize the Selectmen to acquire any necessary land by eminent domain,

purchase or otherwise, and appropriate a sum of money for ac- quiring such land and for building said way, or do or act.

Article 40. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a sum of money for the improvement of the park property ad- jacent to the new High School, or do or act.

Article 41. To see if the Town will accept and establish the roads on Nob Hill as and for Town ways, or do or act.


Voted that the subject matter of Article 31 be referred to the Selectmen with a request that they act thereon within a reasonable time.


Article 42. To see if the Town will appropriate and assess a certain sum of money for purchase of materials in connection with the Cochituate Village Drainage System and that the work proceed provided the labor can be furnished by the Works Progress Administration or any other Governmental Agency, or do or act.


Voted that the Town appropriate $346.00 for purchase of materials, money to be taken from Article 21 appropriation, in connection with the Cochituate Village Drainage System and that the work proceed provided the labor can be furnished by the Works Progress Administration or any other Governmental Agency.


Article 43. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to sell, after first giving notice of the time and place of sale by posting such notice of sale in some convenient and public place in the Town fourteen days at least before the sale, property taken by the Town under tax title procedure provided the Selectmen or whomsoever they may authorize to hold such public auction may reject any bid which they deem inadequate, or take any action relative thereto.


Voted unanimously that the Town authorize the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen to sell, after first giving notice of the time and place of sale by posting such notice of sale in two convenient and public places in the Town fourteen days at least before the sale, property taken by the Town under tax title procedure the Town Treasurer being given full authority to reject any bid which is deemed inade- quate.

Article 44. To see if the Town will accept the gift of the property adjoining the Mill Pond near Wayland Centre, for- merly owned by Charlotte Adams, and more recently held by Edmund H. Sears, Trustee, said property to be used for park purposes and to be called the Adams Park, or some similar name, and to be considered as a memorial to Albert L. Adams and Charlotte Adams, and will authorize the Board of Select- men to accept the gift of said property, subject to any outstand- ing taxes, to be used as aforesaid, or do or act.


Voted unanimously that the Town gratefully accept the gift of the property adjoining the Mill Pond near Wayland Centre, formerly owned by Charlotte Adams, and more recently held by Edmund H. Sears, Trustee, said property to be used for park purposes and to be called the Adams Park, to be con- sidered a memorial to Albert L. Adams and Charlotte Adams, and that the Board of Selectmen be and they hereby are author- ized to accept a deed of said property, subject to any outstand- ing taxes, said property to be used for Park purposes as afore- said.


Article 45. To see if the Town will accept the following gift : $100 received from Warren L. Bishop to establish the "Langmaid and Bishop Fund," income from which to be used for perpetual care of lot No. 85, Section C, Lake View Ceme- tery.


Voted unanimously to accept the foregoing gift.


Article 46. To see what sum, if any, the Town will vote to transfer from available funds to meet any of the appropria- tions made under the foregoing articles.
