In accordance to the vote of the town at the last Annual Meet- ing the Assessors, together with the committee chosen to assist in the work of reassessing the town completed the outside work about August 9, assessing upwards of 13,000 acres of land, to- gether with the buildings thereon.

The board feel that they have assessed the town thoroughly, something that would have been next to impossible, more es- pecially in the westerly part of the town, without the aid of the Assessors' Map.

In order to complete the work thoroughly and accurately, the board was obliged to overdraw the amount appropriated for the map to the amount of $100, which completed all westerly of the State Highway from Marshfield to the Kingston line, and the board feels that the voters should continue to appropriate each year until the work of the whole town is completed.

While. the large increase of the valuation was not wholly due

to the re-assessment, there was a considerable gain in real estate. The chief gain was a large amount of Personal Property, amounting to upwards of $550,000, and the Assessors urgently request the voters at the next annual meeting to use care in ap- propriating that we may be able to hold the rate of taxation rea- sonably low.
